It's been a long one and a half years without blogging for me. It's been a busy period in my life. With the addition of Ian and Iris in the family, and a change of work environment, I've hardly had any time for myself.

Today is somewhat special. It's Christmas. And I'm alone at home, thanks to 3 weddings (ya! ya! no funerals pls!). I attended one yesterday, another today and another tomorrow. I'd like to congratulate Wee CC, Adelene Teo and Kenny Goh on their big day!

Waking up this morning at 11am, I can feel the CNY breeze. Usually during CNY, there'll be wind blowing the whole day. This prompted me to blog again. Looking at the calendar, it's 4 weeks to CNY. Nothing is done yet. No house cleaning. No shopping. Nothing! Luckily next weekend is another long weekend as New Year falls on Sunday, with an additional Monday as replacement holiday.

Next year's CNY falls on the 23rd Jan. That means 3 weeks of work and then I'll be off for a one week break. I've never had a long break for my past several CNYs. It's been work, work and work! This time around, I'll be able to take a break as the workplace is more organised and hopefully 2012 will be a better year for us, and everyone.

MCA...Quo Vadis?

Chua Soi Lek has been elected as the new President of MCA, defeating incumbent Ong Tee Keat and immediate former president Ong Ka Ting. It may be a surprise for many Chinese in Malaysia, but it doesn't surprise me.

All along, the voice of the Chinese community was never represented in MCA meetings. Neither did the votes of the central delegates represent the soul of Chinese community.

With 3% more votes compared to OKT, CSL has emerged the winner. However, Kong Cho Ha who is aligned to him, sufferred a loss to Liow Tiong Lai, also by a margin of 3%.

Let me do a simple analysis. Out of the 2312 votes counted for the presidency post, CSL got 39%, OKT has 36% and OTK has 25%. Do these votes mean that, of the approx. 6 million + Chinese in Malaysia, CSL has the support and approval from 2.5 million? I doubt so. With the sex scandal behind him, I'm very sure all the female on the street wouldn't support him. If the female make up 60% of the population, the remaining 2.4 million are male. Out of the 2.4 million, how many do support him? Often than not, the votes of the central delegates do not represent what the people wants. A survey done by OTK when he was still president, shows that the people prefer him as president. Of course, the survey was carried out by The Star Online, MCA

owns The Star and the MCA president has a say in what gets published in the next day.

With the election over, here comes another hurdle for CSL. He will have to reshuffle the MCA ministers in the cabinet. That is also if the PM approves. CSL has always mentioned that 'politics is the artof making the impossible possible'. He has done that over and over again. The impossible started when he was caught having an affair. He resigned and made a comeback almost immediately, and won as deputy president the following year. He vowed to work together with the then president OTK, but was sidelined. He managed to stage an EGM and caused a 'vote of no confidence' for the president. The president refused to step down. With this, the bond

of OTK-LTL crushed, causing LTL to seek for a new election, with the resignation of 13 of of the CC. CSL kept mum, and pledge his support to OTK, and they both came with the GUP (Greater Unity Plan). A few months down the road, CSL resigned with 7 others, including Kong Cho Ha and Ng Yen Yen. All the ministers that were appointed by OTK went against him in a bid to overthrow him. He was left with no choice but to face CSL in the new MCA election. OKT

popped up and seek reelection in a bid to reunite MCA. However, with the support of NYY, KCH and some old lords, he won as president.

There has been so many 'wayang' within this 2 years. Why wouldn't there be anymore now? After all, politics is an art...to make the impossible possible. So anything is possible, especially when the master tactitian, magician and best actor is now in charge.

The question now is, who will be in the cabinet. Looking at the way he do things, he shall maintain everyone. After all, he did mention that he is a 'collective leader'. Which means, his team shall comprise of OKT, OTK and his supporters. Of the 4 vice president, 2 is aligned to him, one with OKT. With the prerogative of the president, he has the power to choose the Sec-Gen, Org Sec and Trea-Gen. If he is to be biased, KCH will be appointed Sec-Gen, and the line-up should look like this:

Health : CSL

Transport : LTL

Housing & Local Gov : KCH

Tourism : NYY

DLSC, CCH and GPS will be appointed deputy ministers.

If he wants to keep his promise as a collective leader, he should be daring enough to helm the

transport ministry, and continue to probe on the PKFZ issue. In this scenario, the MCA still has a

chance in the next GE. However, as smart as he is, I doubt he will kamikaze, by digging into the PKFZ. So most likely, he will put LTL in the transport ministry. Another possibilty is that he does not take up any post in the cabinet. Looking at the political storm of BN in the past GE, he might just do this to win back the hearts of rakyat. In this case, I expect the cabinet line-up to be like this:

Health : NYY

Transport : LTL

Housing & Local Gov : KCH

Tourism : DLSC

CCH and GPS will be appointed deputy minister

MCA has suffered a devastating 2 years of in-fighting and it is time they close ranks and work together for the next GE. With the decision by the central delegates to elect CSL as president of MCA, it is already another blow to BN. Najib will be worried going into the next GE. BN might suffer an even bigger blow, so will MCA and MIC.

My friend Michael Ang always reminds me, "take more photos of your kid, they grow very fast". Well, he is definitely right.

Ian is now 10 weeks old. He has kind of 'transformed'.

A family-man doing what he does best

When he just came back from the hospital, he was so tiny and fragile. Due to that, I did not dare to carry him until he was 1 week. At 2 weeks, I bottle-fed him for the first time. From then on, he has learned to lift his head and neck on his own, smile and laugh, play with his tongue, sucks his fingers & hands and lifts his legs. But the most surprising of all is that at 8 weeks, he tried to roll-over. He managed to turn his body, and right leg to the left, but he couldn't roll over yet, as his left hand got stucked in the way. He also loves to be put on a sitting and standing position. How fast children grow.... I'm glad that I'm able to see the 'transformation' that has happened. At times, seeing him perform 'stunts' made us so happy....

There are also times when he was not well. He got a flu at 2 weeks, but the Dr said it was normal. Then at 9 weeks, he had fever and cough. The fever is gone, but he's still coughing. Poor 'lil Ian. He's still on medication now, hopefully he is able to recover asap.

Despite the unhealthy condition of Ian, he's still smiling and laughing when playing with us. He's not so active yet, as he sleeps after being fully fed, and wakes up only when he's hungry. I can see that my dad and May's parents are a lot happeier nowadays, after Ian is born. Not only them, we are also much different after becoming parents. There is a sense of more responsibility, being more careful, take lesser risks, and everything we do, we would think of our baby first. We have taken a step forward in our approach of living. Well, everyone has to go through that stage. I'm glad that we have done it. It's a new experience, an experience that we will cherish forever...

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all relatives and friends for their presents and for sharing the joy of our newborn. Thank you....

CNY 2010

Another year has passed....

I have been in Langkawi for almost 2 years, YES...2 years! It's such a sad thing that the work there is still not completed, despite all the promises and effort that we have put in. But the good news is the work is close to 95%, and all that is left is the documentation and paperworks. Soon, I'll be heading back to KL, or another town if we are able to secure new jobs.

That aside, it's the New Lunar Year again. I was back in Melaka and Kampar again, same as the previous years, the only difference this year is we have a new addition to the family, 'lil Ian. He's getting more mischievous as he grow...and of course, cuter and cuter.

We woke up at 5am on CNY eve, got prepared and started our journey from KL at 6.30am. We arrived at Mlk around 8.50am. We were busy the whole day (I don't even know why). On Sunday, I got up at 5am again, after some babysitting and babyfeeding in between. With only 5 hours of sleep for the second continuous night, I started preparing brunch for the family. It's been a tradition in my family that we have brunch for the 1st day of CNY. So, after my mom passed away, I took over the responsibilities because I think I'm the better cook among the 5 of us.

I opted for a simple brunch... But yet, they loved it. It's the family get-together feeling that made the food delicious actually. I was too tired until I forgot to take the pics. We were supposed to go to Kampar on the 2nd day, but we were too tired. It would be very risky to drive when one is tired, especially now that there are 3 of us...so, we decided to stay another day in Mlk. I prepared another brunch on the 3rd day of CNY, because my 4th brother just got back from Singapore on that day. Another decent brunch... but as I have said, when the whole family sat together at the dining table, we could see all the smiling faces.

The only sad moment was after that, when our 'lil Ian's grandpa and uncles were reluctant to see him leave. Everyone took turns to carry him and kissed him....

We spent the rest of the week in Kampar, where Ian got a slight fever, cold and cough from his mom. It's so heartaching to see him cough at night... Despite his condition, he's still able to show us some smiles and laughter, which really made us glad.

Overall, I could sense that Chinese New Year mood is getting more dull year after year. Hopefully, when Ian grow up, things will change...

Who's Your State Assemblyman and Member of Parliament?

Do you know who is your State Assemblyman and Member of Parliament is? If you don't, then you better do.

It's been over a year after the election. Many political hoohas has happened along the way. Some State Assemblymen and MPs has got way too much publicity, but some remained to stay super low profile. Whoever it is, we don't really care as long as they do their job to voice out the rakyat's concerns and to solve the rakyat's problems.

Honestly, I don't know who is the State Assemblyman and MP in my area. More surprisingly, no one has ever mentioned their names. And up to now, I have never seen anyone from either the ruling party(PR) or the opposition(BN) having functions here. Not even gotong-royong, some fests like Pesta Tanglung, Hari Raya open house, etc, etc...

Are all those above important? To them, YES...because it will further close ties with the rakyat. But to us rakyat, NO; because all the above are only acts worthy of an OSCAR. What we expect from them is their time and effort to help the people at their constituency, to voice out the rakyat's concerns at the State Assembly or Parliament. Other than that, they should be more sensitive to the people's basic needs and do the necessary before the rakyat go to the press to ask for help.

Time and again, we have seen our SA's and MP's disappoint us. I'm actually quite an easy person to please. I don't expect 100 points from these elected reps. 80 points will do, but I do go into tiny details at times, and I expect things around me to work fine, just like a production line in any factory. I'm rather irritated when things don't go right, and the worst will be when no one is willing to own up and start pointing fingers, and after several days, weeks and even months, there's no solution to the problem.

During my teens, I have seen politicians in Japan and Taiwan throwing chairs and fighting in Parliament proceedings. Now, I see it here in my country; Perak, to be accurate. Is this the 'Dasar Pandang Ke Timur' promoted by our then PM? We have never learned their good habit, which is to be punctual, and I doubt we ever will. Even our public transport eg. KTM arrives late, so how do we expect Malaysians to be punctual? It's always 'ON THE WAY.....' and after 2 hours, it's still 'ON THE WAY....'. Ok, let's not get carried away. Our politicians in suits behave like monkeys, and I find it rather embarrassing. If they are not worthy of being a State Assemblyman or a Member of Parliament, and if they don't show respect to the rakyat who elect them, then at least they should spare their spouse and kids from embarrassment and being booo'ed in school everytime their father's name is mentioned.

Politicians nowadays behave like Hitler. They do whatever they like, the dictator way. Anyone who is in his way, is axed! The don't give a damn about the rakyat who elect them. They feel superior to the rakyat, and have the VETO power to say and do as they like. Come the next election, they are gone....

I remember in the previous election, many people told me this, "even if you put a cow against the BN candidate, the cow will surely win". That was what happened in certain areas, especially in areas with more working class citizens. Even those BN candidate who has been working hard for the people like Lee Hwa Beng was not spared. However, come to think of it again, if you put a cow as a candidate, you get cow brains. Many of the MPs in the parliament and state assemblymen in state assemblies eventually showed their stupidity and embarrassed themselves. The moment they open their mouth, the whole nation knows that they were born with their brains in their asses. If you are fat, you can diet. If you are ugly, you can go for plastic surgery. But if you are stupid, I'm sorry....you are beyond help!!!

When an SA or MP walk out of the state assembly or parliament, they lost their precious opportunity to voice the rakyat's concerns. If their intention is pure, they would put the rakyat above everything else. And if they are smart, they would opt to count to 10, before taking out their guns and shoot anyone in their way. Wayne Rooney was red carded due to his hot temper, and that costs England dearly in the previous World Cup. I would suggest all elected representatives to go for temper management, and I bet this will eventually safe lives. Many of our reps are above 50, so getting a heart attack is not difficult. If I'm not mistaken, several MPs and SA's have died since March 18 2008. So, fellow reps, do you wanna be next?

In Malaysia, there is one special breed of politicians which we can never find in any other countries on this planet. They are totally ignorant and thick skinned. Despite all the scandals and hot news that surrounds him, he still feels that he's THE ONE, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS or THE LAST MAN STANDING. They never give up. I mean, if they never give up fighting for the people, it's allright. But what I meant here is, they never want to give up their post! They rather cling on to the party post and don't mind causing heavy loses to their party in the next election. We all know who they are. We also know there's in-fighting in PPP, MIC, Gerakan, MCA and now Party Makhal Sakti!!! Not even that, PAS also has their own problems. What a joke! If you as a party president, lost in an election, you should just step down and claim responsibility for your failure. It takes a true man to claim responsibility when things don't turn out the way he wanted, and I am glad Ong Ka Ting showed what true leader he was, when he stepped down as president after the bad performance of MCA in the 2008 election. What surprised me the most is when the party president lost in their own constituency, they still want to remain as president and keep talking about bringing changes to the party for the next GE. Samy Vellu lost in Sungai Siput, where majority is Indians, and a seat he held for so so many years. M Kayveas lost in Taiping, also as an incumbent. Koh Tsu Koon lost in...forgot what seat in Penang, at the same time, lost the Penang state. Party Makhal Sakti, who claimed to fight for the Indians where MIC failed to do, has now joined BN, and engaged in in-fighting between their No 1 and No 2 leader.

You may ask me, all the above has got no concern to me, why on earth should I be so worried and concerned? Well, as I've said, I always prefer a smooth life just like the smooth production line, I would rather have things around me done in a proper manner. But nowadays, I can't do it. Each morning, on my way to work, I have to go through so many pot holes and jams before getting to the mainroad. Even on mainroads, I was also jammed up. Ok, one thing at a time. Let's start with the potholes. There are at least 5 potholes which would easily kill a motorcyclist on a dark, rainy day. The motorcycle tyre can easily fit in those holes. Imagine if those motorcyclist are our loved ones. I was glad when one morning, on my way to work, I found out 2 pot holes were patched. But the other 3 remained unpatched. WTF? Do the State Assemblyman or MP's ever come to this constituency and look at our problems? Or do they rather sit their fat ass in the air conditioned rooms thinking of ways to fight with their enemies? Fxxking shit assholes, you stupid fellas, elected by the rakyat, got tens of thousands ringgit each month, and a free car, with free repair if you ever fall into a pothole. But the rakyat, in spite of the current economy crisis and ever on-going inflation, have to bear with all sorts of nonsense, elected you shit face to behave like monkeys in state assembly seatings without ever once thinking of the rakyat who elected you. Shame on you!

As we used to say, "Aiya, if you don't get stucked in a jam, you are not staying in KL la....", or "Aiya, if you don't get robbed or your handbag snatched, you are not staying in JB la...". We expect the authorities to do something. There are at least 3 junctions here which would have smooth traffic flows if traffic lights are installed. Why up to now, there's still no action taken. Or do these fat-ass don't really know what's happening in their constituency? I really pity the Kg Buah Pala folks, as their reps 'cakap tak serupa bikin'. But now, it's happening here as well. How long should we wait until we see the changes?

As I've mentioned, I don't know who the SA or MP of this area is, but I do know it's PR in control of Selangor now. It doesn't matter if the SA or MP here is of BN or PR, if it's not a federal road, then PR should at least do something. Where are the reps when we need them now? Do we need a few accidents and a few deaths for the press to highlight our plights? Come on PR, buck up please!!!

Uncle Lim on the GUP

I was wondering for a long time now, why hasn't the opposition mention anything about the so-called Greater Unity Plan by MCA Sdn Bhd (Ong, Chua dan Anak). Well, finally he has.

Here is the pick from his blog, although it was written by Thomas Lee. I have no idea who this Thomas Lee is but I do know anything that comes from Uncle Lim's blog is definitely interesting and nice to read. If there is no truth to it, he would have been detained a long time ago.

What the Greater Unity Plan involves and implies:

(1) Ignoring and dismissing the majority will of the party central delegates in wanting to remove the top two leaders by claiming that they lack the two-third vote to effect the dismissal, but not acepting the fact that the top two lack the support of more than half of the grassroots delegates.

(2) The coming together of the two former enemies for the sole purpose of retaining power despite losing massive support from the grassroots members. One leader is a shameless person who has no intergrity and lost all credibility when he reneged on his pledge that he will resign even if he lost by a vote but shamelessly stays on and becoming the laughing stock of the country. Another leader has a soiled reputation the subject of ridicule and derision among the people, bringing disrepute to the party.

(3) The sacking of appointed central committee members who hold dissenting v?iews and/or who want the double-ten EGM decision of grassroots delegates respected and implemented. The irony of the so-called “Greater Unity” Plan involves the chopping of heads, causing further disunity and alienation among the party leaders and members. The hypocrisy of the whole fiasco has made the party the height of folly and mockery in the public eyes.

(4) The appointment of a young and immature political greenhorn and unfamiliar party lightweight, who is a son of the soiled leader, into the central committee as part of the horse-trading for “peace” reflects the immorality of the whole party power play. The fate and interest of the party have been made bargaining chips for the selfish personal agenda of two power-crazy individuals. Why is there no comment on this crony appointment by the party members?

(5) The removal of the women chief and youth leader from their legitimate positions as members of the presidential council is the height of authoritarian power practice as both are ex-officio vice-presidents. The derogatory and demeaning treatment of these two elected leaders is further debased by the appointment of their subordinates in their place. Such a detestable action, semblable to the fascism of the tyrannical rule of Hitler, by a dictatorial president cannot be ignored and tolerated by the grassroots members.

(6) The interference and intervention of power forces from outside the party to effect the so-called Greater Unity Plan have shown the party to be a mere powerless puppet, a castrated political eunuch, in the national political arena and, hence, not worthy of support by the community it purportedly represents. The party has lost face and it will never recover from this current shameful episode. The beginning of the end of the party has started and the momentum of its dismantle is gaining strength, and the next general election will be its funeral and burial.

Quo vadis, MCA?

In my previous posts, the above is what I meant, although he wrote it in a better way, better grammar, short and simple, and most important, straight to the point.

Everyone doubted the GUP. "GUP? What GUP?". No one heck cares about the GUP, even Ong and Chua don't care about GUP. They only care about the GAP. Do you know what is the GAP? It's the GAP between their legs, slightly above the thigh, it is the ASSHOLE!!!! They care if they get FxxKED!!! So, they have to do what it takes...even the dictatorship way!

And Ti, if Ong is the Emperor of Ching Dinasty, you will definitely be appointed his General-in-Command. All you do is use your blardy head not for thinking, but charging against anyone in the president's way, just like what a bull would do.

It's pretty obvious, isn't it? #1 to #6 the above may not be acceptable to everyone, but if you have a clear mind, you would. Only those in denial, ignorance and power-crazy would disagree. So who is power crazy now?

Emperor Ong strengthens his grip, uses his axe!

Yesterday, 6 new 'yes-man' has been appointed by 'Emperor' Ong to replace those who are not alligned to him. Among the 6 axed are Youth Chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Dr Hou Kok Chung, Datuk Wee Jeck Seng, Lee Wei Kiat and Wong Nai Chee. The new faces comprise of Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho, Tan Cheng Liang, Datuk Lee Chee Leong, loyalist 'General' Datuk Ti Lian Ker, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and Heng Seai Kie.

In a press conference, Wee and Chew coundn't hold back their tears and wept as they brief the press about the incident. By doing so, it will only incite more hatred into MCA and lose more trust by the Chinese community. In a period of 1 year, Ong has changed from the man who 'walk-the-talk' to the man who gives empty promises. He knew he has lost his credibility, therefore he dare not allow for the 2nd EGM to be held. By axing 6 CC members, the number who voted against the EGM is 23, 10 voted for it and 2 remained abstrained. Last month, it was 16 who wanted the 2nd EGM before they were sacked.

After the EGM on 10/10, instead of giving up his presidency, Ong has opted for a 'unity plan' with Chua. Up to now, no one knows what the unity plan is all about. Even our DPM laughs off and did not know about the unity plan. Muhyiddin said it would be difficult for Barisan to win the support of the Chinese if the party continued to face political crisis. "If i were a Chinese, I would also not support the MCA", he said. "Let's face the facts", adding that his statement might be taken as harsh but that was the reality of the current situation.

Ong has chosen to be in denial and ignorant to the whole issue and continue to force his emperor-ship on MCA. With Chua on his side now, after knowing that both don't stand a chance if devided, both are manipulating the party in their own style. Chua has repeatedly said that position is not important to him. We all know that after the sex scandal, BN leaders will not give him any government post, hence he can say things like that. But we also know that if position is not important to him, it is very important for his son. Otherwise he wouldn't appoint his son to fight in the Labis constituency in the previous GE. All he wants is for his son Chua Tee Yong to climb the MCA ladder.

I bet Najib will be very afraid going into the next General Election if Ong and Chua continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.

MCA Disciplinary Committee Resigned En Bloc

In this democratic country, if a leader is voted out by the grassroots, it is time for him to go. No matter what reasons he may give, it is unethical for him to continue to stay on and manipulate the party. The longer he stays on, the worse the situation will become. It has become a mockery of MCA, to be stucked in the worst inner political struggle in history.

Two days ago, all 5 of the disciplinary committee resigned en bloc. They are the ones who decided to sack Chua Soi Lek due to his sex scandal. Their decision was backed by the presidential council (appointed by Ong Tee Keat) who made the decision conclusive and final. Although Chua later called for an EGM to try to win back his post, he failed in his bid because the delegates voted not in favour of him.

With these, both the president and deputy received the votes of no confidence. Both teamed up later to form a unity plan, which angered most parties. The disciplinary committee members are some very senior party members. They felt betrayed by Ong Tee Keat who did not walk the talk. Due to his own political agenda, he turned on his words. He did not resign as he received the vote of no confidence as party president. His presidential council also did not resign.

Many grassroots felt betrayed by Ong. They have voted but their votes were ignored. Many felt Ong and Chua are the ones who are POWER CRAZY instead of Liow. The ROS also made a fool out of themselves. According to the party constitution, Ong will be voted out as president if 2/3 of votes are reached. It did not happen. Legally, he remains as president; although in this democratic world, it CANNOT happen unless you are an Emperor. Chua was not reinstated during the EGM, but ROS says he is still deputy president. Ong continue to claim Chua is the legal deputy. Everyone knows this conspiracy is nothing other than nonsense and for Ong to continue to build on his empire.

Yesterday, Ong said he will still accept Liow in his GUP. Ong also said that one of the fundamental principles in his plan is an inclusive leadership which means no group will be left out and everyone will have a role to play. How can we still believe someone who do goes against his promises. Up to now, he still very ignorant of what the grassroots want.

MCA is in such a sad state. If Ong feels that he is still the most preferred candidate as president, then he should be brave enough to face the party election. Let the grassroots decide once again.

The Greater Unity Plan is conceived following a deep realisation that MCA cannot continue to be dragged down from a prolonged leadership impasse. Personal and past differences need to be set aside to allow the MCA to move forward and win back public support. (I agree personal and past differences need to be set aside to allow MCA to move forward, but I also must stress that if you walk the talk, then MCA will win MORE public support. Maybe the lesson learnt from the past EGM is that if you and Chua don't work together, both of you will be voted out. Therefore, both of you have decided put aside whatever differences, and continue to manipulate the party including sacking 4 CC members who go against you. By doing so, the 16 CC members who submitted a requisition to call for an EGM for fresh polls are reduced to 12, which does not meet the 1/3 of 42 CC members required to be eligible for an EGM to take place - smart but cunning!)

The Greater Unity Plan consists of three key elements, namely Uniting the Party, Healing the Wounds and Transforming and Rebranding MCA. In implementing this Plan, the Party constitution must be upheld and no one should be allowed to go beyond the powers provided under the Constitution.

Uniting the Party

Dato’ Sri Ong Tee Keat and Dato’ Sri Dr Chua Soi Lek has now come together despite their past differences. They have also reached out to other groups for the sake of MCA unity and to achieve an inclusive leadership. (Your CC members are not united, how are you going to solve this problem? Who are the other groups that both of you have reached out to? Donald Lim? By appointing him as the a new CC member, you have regained some extra votes and strengthen your grip on the presidency)

To ensure that this camaraderie is maintained, it is crucial that MCA members, from the Central Committee downwards, adhere strictly to the MCA Code of Conduct. When making any statements or taking any action, Party leaders must bear in mind that MCA interests overrides all other considerations. (If MCA interests overrides all other considerations, how come the outcome of the 10/10 EGM is not adhered? You, together with the presidential council have sacked Chua as deputy and suspended him, the delegates also does not want Chua as deputy, but as of now, both of you are working side by side together with his son Chua Tee Yong to strengthen your grip in MCA)

Efforts to identify talents and giving them suitable platforms to serve the Party and community will need to be intensified. (Efforts to identify your own enemies is on-going. Allies who are able to serve you better are identified and appointed)

More activities will also need to be undertaken to promote closeness and better relations between Party members at all levels. (When the delegates have voted a no-confidence in your leadership, you remained as president. You did not resign as you promised before the EGM, despite losing 2 out of 3 resolutions, how are you going to regain their support and trust?)

Healing the Wounds

MCA, still recovering from the major setbacks from the 2008 general election, is hurt from prolonged infighting. The public perception of MCA has taken a beating and this will not help us gear up as we head towards winning back public support in time for the next general election. (A lousy leader who is not aware of the wants and needs of members, will continue to cause the party to split further and plunge deeper; or I would say well aware but chose to ignore. I believe MCA will not only unable to win back public support, but continue to loose more seats in the next GE. MCA is getting closer to become more like MIC. Maybe one day, you will change the 9 year limit as a president to no-limit, reason being the other leaders are not ready. Do we smell the same rotten fish here?)

The Party’s top leaders will go for a brainstorming session to identify the areas of differences and common grounds among the various groups in the MCA. This will give the Party to have a better sense on how to move forward as it leverage on its strength and plug its weaknesses. (should be...your strong supporters have done a lot of brainstorming session and identified various groups in MCA who went and will continue to go against you. It has given you a better sense on how to move forward to strengthen your grip - by sacrificing those in your way)

Towards this end, the brainstorming session would also chart out a series of short, medium and long term measures. (as of now, the brainstorming session has charted out a series of short term measures, including the sacking of 4 CC members, and throw Liow back to be vice president although the EGM clearly states that the members want a change in leadership...that means everyone in the CC. Medium and long term measures are meant to strengthen your grip on the helm)

A committee would also be set up to promote relations between the different sections in the Party, in particular the parent body and the wings in the Party. This is crucial to ensure a synergistic relationship between the different sections in MCA. (Another committee? Your presidential council have proven to be a failure, now set up a committee to unite the parent body and the wings in MCA? Maybe it is to finish off those who go against you in the wings instead eg. Wee Ka Siong and Chew Mei Fun)

Transforming and Rebranding MCA

The Central Committee needs to identify key core areas of concerns which the community and the Party should focus on. It is crucial that MCA not only can feel the heartbeat of the people, it must also be seen to be doing so. Failure to stay on top of the people’s expectations is not an option. (Since the General Election last year, everyone is aware that MCA has become more of a circus than a party to serve the people better. MCA has been around even before independence, why until now, still needs the CC to identify key core areas of concerns by the community? In actual fact, the community are VERY VERY CONCERN about the current situation in MCA. Can you stop being Samy Ong Vellu and be totally ignorant of what the people wants?)

The Party needs to work out a massive rebranding exercise to change the public’s perception that MCA is not in touch with them. This is necessary especially to ensure that the MCA’s tireless and unrelenting efforts to serve the people are put in the correct perspective and not misunderstood. (The party needs to do this, needs to do that, blah...blah...blah.... We have heard enough. Better stop talking and do your work or else Pakatan Rakyat will form the next Federal Government even though the rakyat knows that Anwar is full of lies. Under your leadership, what have you done for the people? Can you list them down?)

The MCA also needs to come up with Key Performance Index at the branch, division and State levels. This will ensure that Party officials at all levels are kept on their toes at all times in serving the people, Party and nation. (You will only use this KPI as an excuse to kick out those who are not supporting you in branch, division and state levels, and replace them. This will ensure that all those at all levels are there to serve you at all times)

For those who are new to the whole circus in MCA, here are the chronicle of events.

2008 - Party elections. Ong emerged as president while Chua won as deputy president. Ong left Chua out his line-up of important portfolios due to long term rivalry.

Aug 2009 - Chua was sacked as deputy president by the presidential council due to his sex video incident. Chua's membership was also suspended for 3 years.

Sept 2009 - Chua with signatures of more than 1/3 delegates demanded for an EGM.

Oct 2009

- 3 resolutions were passed by the delegates. 1-Ong received a vote of no-confidence as party president. 2-Chua was not wanted as deputy president. 3-Chua was voted to remain as ordinary party member.

- Ong remained as party president due to party constitution that states 2/3 votes is needed for him to step down.

- Liow appointed as deputy president in the first CC meeting after the EGM.

- Ong instructed Sec-Gen Wong Foon Meng to look into possibility of another EGM to call for fresh polls. Liow and 22 others objected and demanded Ong to step down. Ong admitted he was deeply saddened and disappointed by Liow's actions, of whom he thought was a 'true friend' all these years

Nov 2009

- Ong shocked the nation when he revealed his unity plan with Chua, pushing Liow back as vice president. ROS confirmed Chua as deputy president.

- 16 CC members led by Liow Tiong Lai, Wee Ka Siong(Youth Chief) and Chew Mei Fun (Wanita Chief) signed a requisition to push for EGM to have fresh elections to solve party crisis

- Chua sacked 4 CC members(who also supported the requition to have fresh polls)whom he appointed last year, replacing them with 3 others including Donald Lim and Chua Tee Yong (Chua Soi Lek's son, also Labis MP)

- Liow declared he wants to challenge ROS decision in court for the re-appointment of Chua as deputy president

Ever since the PKFZ issue was revealed, Ong has regained 'hero' status among the people of Malaysia. He was known as daring, to reveal the PKFZ culprits. However, his actions for the past 3 months clearly showed that he wants to cling on to the presidency as long as he could, with whatever it takes. He no longer care for the delegates' needs and ignored their votes in the EGM.

In my humble opinion, the whole CC should take responsibility for all the nonsense that happened. All should resign. A fresh poll should be held asap. The PM should step in and do the necessary for the sake of BN, just like what Tun Mahathir has done in his premier years, although he admitted he did it behind the scene.

Parti MCA = Parti Me(Ong TK), Chua & Anak

In the latest twist of events in MCA, President Ong Tee Keat has sacked 4 appointed CC members. They were among the 16 who signed a requisition calling for an EGM to decide whether the party should have a fresh election. Among them are Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung, National Organising Secretary Yow Wei How, his deputy Gan Hong Su and Datuk Chai Kim Sen. A good leader don't just appoint someone to be in his team and then sack them after a year. This shows that his appointment of CC members a year ago was purely based on his personal gains rather than to have a strong team who could bring greater heights for the party.

From an outsider's point of view, it is as if the party belongs to Ong. He can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants and to whoever he wants. After suffering a vote of no-confidence, he stayed on as the president. To avoid being ousted, he teamed up with Chua Soi Lek, of whom the delegates voted against his reinstatement of deputy president. The delegates clearly voted that they want a change in the party leadership, but these two are still clinging on. To make matters worse, Chua's son, Chua Tee Yong who is only in his early 30s was appointed into the CC together with Donald Lim(a candidate of deputy president in the previous MCA election, who got the lowest votes) and Tan Chin Meng.

The president clearly shows he lacks substance. What a shame!

Ong's unity plan is CLEARLY UNCLEAR. No one knows what's in the unity plan. He dare not even hold a press conference to explain the unity plan. Or maybe there isn't a unity plan at all. All this while, he's hiding in his shell and only asked everyone to read his blog. Maybe his unity plan was meant for him to unite with Chua Soi Lek and both rule the party for 20 years until Chua's son is ready to take over the party. At the same time, they can do whatever they want and chop off anyone in their way.

Now we know who Ong really is. When he decided to stay on as president after the vote of no confidence, he said he is still needed and there are many things still undone. After only a few weeks, we can conclude that when he said that, he meant he's still needed 'by his own men' and the things still undone are his unfinished business and his plan to continue to manipulate the party. What about the PKFZ? Have we forgotten about it? He's too busy taking care of his own ass at the moment, and looking at the current political situation, he will have no time to look into the PKFZ issue at least for 3 months. The PKFZ issue will continue to drag on and on....and in the end, we will forget.

Another issue that shocked us is that the ROS has reinstated Chua Soi Lek as the deputy president of MCA. WTF???

This means that the EGM on 10/10 was just a waste of time. The voice of the delegates are not heard! And the two 'OC United' will continue to do as their wish. Even the ROS are rubbish!

We are very tired with all these nonsense...and no one can put a stop to this, not even our beloved PM. What can I say??? BO UEY KONG....meaning NOTHING TO SAY!!!!!

On claims by Ong that he felt upset and betrayed by some of his friends that he thought has supported him all this while but signed a petition to ask him to step down as president, this is what Liow has to say.

Once the betrayal has been made, there's no point explaining. The fox's tail is so visible, yet the denial so great. In smart politics these days, if you do not support the president, you will end up just like Datuk Subramaniam in MIC. If you try to go against the leader's policy, you might also end up like Datuk Zaid Ibrahim in PKR.

As the saying goes, "ditelan mati bapak, diluah mati mak". Whatever it is, once you have chosen the path of politics, get ready to be slaughtered one day! You either get kicked out by your rival or voted out by the people. Only a fraction of very very smart politicians can survive and retire in peace.

Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, who has been elected as MCA deputy president last week, has critised Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat for calling an EGM to decide whether the delegates want a fresh poll to decide the new leadership. The newly elected deputy president has earlier kept mum on whether Ong will resign after a resolution of no confidence was voted on him, and expected to be elected president. However, Ong stayed on, on a basis that the Chinese community still need him and there are still unfinished business that he has to settle.

Should a fresh poll be held, Liow will be up against some older and more experienced party rivals. In that case, he has no choice but to fight for the top post, because of all the current Central Committee members, he holds the highest post. This will definitely put himself at a very high risk, not only the possibility of losing the presidency, but also losing a Ministerial post in the fight and finishing off his political carrier altogether.

Today, yet another shocking news appeared in the news headline. An unsigned letter is being widely circulated in the internet, which alleged that a company often awarded projects by the Ministry of Health had bought a MPV for Liow's wife worth RM 574,884.10. Two banks name, cheque numbers and the car's plate number was also mentioned. A report was lodged by DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng and PKR's Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne at the Sentul police station yesterday.

The police has suggested MACC to look into this matter thoroughly.

When contacted, Liow denied all allegations made against him. "It's totally rubbish. The person doing this obviously has malicious intent", he said.

In recent months, the so-called 'Mr Clean' has lost his credibility in terms of merit. In the recent outbreak of H1N1, our country's H1N1 death that started in July, ballooned so sudden that the death toll climbed so fast in the month August, and up to date, remains 77 death. China, with it's population of billions, has only lost 2 lives, including one that died today.

I remember the previous outbreak that had hit our country was the SARS. Hong Kong and it's neighbouring countries was so badly hit. So are the other countries in Asia. That time, the deadly virus was contained so well by the then Minister of Health, DS Chua Soi Lek. Chua was praised and was rising steadily in the political arena when he was caught in the act of lust.

Liow will not give up meeting with Ong and seek to scrap the idea of EGM to decide on the party polls. Since the EGM has yet to be called, he will go all out. Although it is unethical and undemocratic, it is only with this way, that he will get to helm the party. If he were to fight head-on with other more experienced and likened rival, his political carrier will as well as be over.

Najib has spoken

The solution to MCA's leadership issue must not only be legally correct but also morally and politically acceptable, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said. The Barisan Nasional Chairman said the solution MCA took must be based on these factors or it will never win the support of the Chinese community.

When he said morally, he meant the case of Dr Chua. And when he said politically, he meant Ong has lost the confidence of the party delegates, although it's a simple majority of 14 votes.

However, he also said that the party members are a matured bunch, and should be given some time to sort out their problems.

Barisan Sec-Gen Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor also broke his silence by saying the MCA crisis will have a negative impact on Barisan. He also said Ong should heed the decision of the 10/10 EGM where the delegates voted for a no-confidence resolution on his leadership. He also suggested that a new caretaker president to takeover, and to have a fresh election soon.

UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim also thinks that a fresh poll is the best way to solve the current crisis. He said whoever is at the helm of the party must have confidence of the members. "Once you are voted out by a simple majority or two-thirds, the effect is the same. You are no longer accepting the vote of confidence from the party", he said.

Perhentian Island - 4th to 6th Oct 2009

It was supposed to be our lovey-dovey husband and wife outing cum my birthday celebration in July, as we booked this 3d/2n island getaway package during the February Matta Fair. However, we got our much awaited good news of our new offspring in March, hence the trip was postponed to Sept, and then again to Oct; while we look for interested friends to fill the void.

The price of this package by Bubu Long Beach Resort never interested any of our friends. We got it for RM544 per pax after discount. We were willing to let it go at a much cheaper rate but many still find it expensive. Since we bought it during the Matta Fair, they do not allow us to carry forward the trip to next year. I had opted not to go in the first place. However, May insisted I go with my brother. In the end, May had to see me go for a holiday without her, for the first time since we got together.

Our July return flight ticket was bought for a mere RM120 for both of us, but when I rebooked it this time, it costs me almost RM400.

We (my brother and I) started our journey on an early Sunday. We took a cab to KL Sentral, had our breakfast, and then boarded the Skybus to LCCT. Everything was on schedule. We arrived at Kota Bahru at noon, and took a cab to Kuala Besut Jetty. The taxi ride costs us RM78. An advice to travellers to Kuala Besut, if you are going to Bubu Long Beach, just pay RM60 for their to and fro van service. If you are not in a hurry, take a bus. You get to see more of the countryside.

Our package includes the boat ride from the jetty to Long beach. It took us 30 mins to reach Long beach. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a beautiful young lady and delicious lunch! I thought she is a Malay but after speaking to her, I found out she is Phillipino. There are indeed many Phillipino working at Perhentian Island.

We had salad with salmon for our starter. Then we were served grilled beef as our main course and ice cream for dessert. I never thought the 3d/2n full board package will be like this. I had earlier expected simple local delicacies like fried rice, fried noodles, etc but when we saw our meals coming, I thought to myself....the amount paid was worth while. No wonder my friends say the Bubu package is expensive!

The room condition is much better compared to chalets. If i were to backpack here, I'd also chose to stay in a chalet. After all, you don't spend much time in the room except for sleeping. As I've initially wanted to bring May here, we opted Bubu because we knew we are going to get better food, better room, better services and get to go home with a broad smile in our faces. However, she did not get to come... poor May....hehe.

3d/2n itinerary

After lunch, we got ready for snorkelling. The downside about this is that we have to RM30 per pax for the snorkelling equipments. Bubu really cut our throat! Elsewhere, you only need to pay RM5 or max RM10. Here, it's different. Nevertheless, we paid and went for our first snorkelling trip, 100m from our resort. They call it 'house reef'. We call it 'below the jetty'. There's not much fish there. Maybe it's because I was expecting something better, so I did not bother to swim further.

At the same time, my brother Lim was having a tough time dealing with the snorkel mask, as we thought. It was his first island trip, and his first time snorkelling. We tried to teach him to inhale and exhale with his mouth, but to no avail. In the end, we found out that he's actually afraid of the water! He can't swim. And the waves made him lost his balance. Even with the safety vest, his whole body was so tense as if he had a cramp. He decided to take a rest. Well, if a person is afraid of the water, it is definitely not a good idea to force him to snorkel. We don't want anything bad to happen, so we just let him 'enjoy' the hot sun by the beach.

As usual, the east coast of Malaysia will be hit by strong monsoon winds and thunderstorm at the end of the year. That is the reason why Pulau Perhentian, Redang, Kapas and others off Terengganu are closed to visitors from November to February yearly. The weather there already started to swing like a woman's mood, as bright hot sun could suddenly turn into black clouds in easily 10 minutes. We were lucky to have a bright sky that day, and we went for sunset viewing at Coray Bay. Coray Bay is at the opposite side of Pulau Perhentian Kecil. With a little hiking and jungle trekking, we managed to get to the other side in 20 mins.

Not wanting to hike back to Long Beach in the dark, our tour guide, Ali managed to get a hitchhike boat trip back to Long Beach. It was an interesting powerboat ride, with much splashing and bumping. The excitement and heart thumping is just like getting on the rollercoaster, except that we do not know when to expect another big wave coming. I could imagine if May was here, our baby would have come off naturally!

Our dinner was quite normal, rice with curry chicken and mixed vege. Then, we were served with BBQ squid, sausage, fish and beef. I rarely eat beef, but this time, I finished the beef immediately. It tasted very good.

After dinner was a normal scroll along the beach, looking for a happening place for some beer. Unfortunately, we couldn't find one. Maybe it's due to the low season. My friend told me when he went there in July a few years ago, there were so many people on the beach, topless and sunbathing. At night, the pubs will be full of Angmohs dancing and drinking. I was dissapointed as I did not get to see even one topless Angmoh on this beach. We went back to our room at about 9.30pm. I couldn't sleep because it's too early. Then I went for a walk to the grocery shop to get some water. I found out that Bubu did show live football telecast on a big screen. I immediately called my brother to join in. That night, we saw Arsenal won 6-something....can't remember against who. The next match was a nightmare! Liverpool lost to Chelsea 2-0. Sigh....

Morning started at 7.00 for me. It's natural that I wake up early whenever I go for vacation. I would not want to spend lots of time sleeping and missed out on the beauty of the place that I visit. Mornings at Long Beach seemed very quiet. No doubt the Angmohs who came to Malaysia love our sunny weather. They would sleep till almost noon, then when it's hot enough, they would lie down on the beach with their bikinis or shorts with a book in their hands. They would stay there till the sun goes away, and then party at night till way past midnight.

As for me, the 2nd day is the only full day that I have in Perhentian. We went snorkelling at 3 places, Fish point, Shark point and then Turtle point. Oh yea....I managed to see all of them.

We came back to our resort at about 2pm. We had our lunch and then went for another scroll along the beach to take some photos.

At 4.45 pm, dark clouds suddenly appear. However, there were not much rain or thunderstorm. It only drizzled. We were hoping that the clouds would go away, so that we could continue with our hybrid park adventure. Nop, the sky stayed gloomy the whole evening.

That night, we had the almost same food as the day before. This time, it's rice with beef curry and mixed vege. Later that night, my brother woke up at 5.00 am and vomitted. It continued for a while, then finally he managed to sleep again. In the morning, he had diarhoea and constant vomitting. Luckily the groceries there do sell some medication. I bought some panadol, some 'pou jai yuen' and ENO for the stomach. He took the ENO to get rid of all unwanted stuff in the stomach. Then took the 'pou jai yuen' to stabilise the stomach condition, plus 2 tablets of panadol to avoid pains.

I managed to grab some little bottles with "Pulau Perhentian" writings as souvenir. I have to fill in with some sand before giving to others as souvenir tho'. This is the only thing I managed to buy here, as all the other souvenirs are sold out. Even postcards with the words 'Perhentian Island' are nowhere to be found.

Our hybrid station trail was carried out on the 3rd day morning. Luckily we had clear skies. The walk took us 30 mins. It's a worthy walk, as we get to see the island from the 2nd highest point of the island. The hybrid station is actually a power generation station. It uses wind and solar to generate power for the consumption of the resorts in that island.

Blue Lagoon

After a 15 mins break, we took off and head back to our rooms. We packed and soon, got ready for the 11.00am boat ride back to Kuala Besut. Each day, there are 3 trips to and from Perhentian Island. Boats from K Besut leave at 10am, 1pm and 5pm. Boats from Perhentian leave at 8am, 11am and 4pm.

My brother's condition got better. As planned, we were to take the 11am boat ride, then we would hang out at Kota Bahru the whole afternoon. Since we arrived at K Besut quite early, we decided to take a bus to K Bahru. When we arrived at Kota Bahru town, we feel as if we were back to our hometown Melaka, but somewhere 10 years ago. The bus station, wet market and shopping malls like Parkson are all within walking distance. There's nothing much to do here, except to shop for souvenirs. We couldn't get anything. In fact, we were actually craving for the famous nasi dagang which is purple in colour. We walked into many shops but were given the same answer, "datang besok pagi". I finally understand that they only serve nasi dagang in the morning, just like nasi lemak in KL.

As evening approched, we took a bus and headed off to the airport. We flew back on time, took the skybus to KL Sentral and got a close friend to send us back home. When we got home, it's already 12.30 pm. Phew.... although tiring, it's a good experience for us.

I will definitely return to this island, maybe to Perhentian Besar. I may opt to stay in chalets in my next trip, because a chalet for 2 costs only as low as RM50 per night during the low season. And maybe....just maybe, I shall pamper myself with some diving action! Open water courses starts at RM850. I thought to myself, "Why not!"

Is There No Other Capable Leaders in MCA?

As the voice of support for Ong grew louder, the voice for Ong to resign also did not loose it's tempo. The question is, whether Ong is the only one in MCA capable enough to lead the 60 year old party?

Ong has recently lost his credibility in the following scenarios:

1. He promised to step down if any of the 3 resolutions in the EGM is passed against him. However, not only he did not walk-the-talk, the CC has elected his so-called successor Liow as deputy president.

2. He took too long to probe on PKFZ. Firstly, after PWC audit is ready, he did not immediately release it to the public. Secondly, after so many months, we still did not get the overall picture of the 'WHOLE' issue. Is there more to come? How long more do we have to wait?

3. Chairman of Kuala Dimensi, DS Tiong King Sing claimed that he gave RM10million to Ong. Ong dismissed that claim and sued Tiong. This case is in hearing. As far as I still remember in recent years, such is the first that I ever hear of an MCA president.

4. Ong is the first president in the history of MCA to be given a vote of no confidence.

5. As a president, I'm pretty sure all the CC will support him. Whatever decision he made, the CC will say 'yes'. They are no different from the so-called 'YES man'. When he decided to call for an EGM to seek the mandate of the delegates for a fresh election, he and the CC already knew before hand that the delegates will push for a fresh poll. Yet, he openly asked for an EGM. He is buying time to get more support and more votes. However, this will backfire because it further angers the delegates. They are frustrated and tired of all this circus.

The Central Committee are also afraid of fresh polls. They might be voted out anytime. Kong who 3 days earlier said he is ready to helm the party, has declined nomination for the deputy president in the CC meeting on Thursday. What a hipocrit! Is this the quality we seek in a leader? Liow, the smarter of the 4 vice presidents, who remained calm and quiet despite all speculations, emerged as the winner.

There is another BIG QUESTION MARK here. Are there no other capable leaders in MCA? Does it mean that if Ong resign, there is no one else in the CC who is daring and clean enough to fight corruption and to probe deeper into the PKFZ issue? Are the CC really 'YES man' only? What about Liow Tiong Lai, Kong Cho Ha and Ng Yen Yen? Can't they also do the same thing in the PKFZ issue should they be appointed or elected?

In the end, we do not see much reform being done. Again, we were forced to wait for another month for an EGM, which is to be held during the AGM. Then, if the motion for a fresh party election is passed, we will again have to wait for at least another month for fresh polls. It will drag on, and on.... This is the tactic often used by politicians.

We Malaysians are a forgetful bunch. We tend to forget minor issues easily, and major issues as well after several months. I do not doubt the much promised 'reformation' will not happen as how we want it to be.

You Fart from Your Mouth - Can We Still Trust You?

After all those promises before the EGM, it is all finally down the drain once more. All those talks and promises are purely for vote fishing. We finally get to see the dark side of this so called leader, who used to walk-the-talk.

After the CC met this afternoon, the conclusion is that Ong Tee Keat will remain as the MCA president while Liow Tiong Lai will be elected deputy president. Ong has directed his appointed Sec Gen to call for an EGM under article 30.1 of the MCA constitution to decide whether fresh polls should be held for the Central Committee.

How long more do we need to see this circus and these clowns making a fool out of themselves?

Now there are many questions that arise further from the decision of this CC meeting.

1. After all those promises that he will resign if he lost the first resolution in 10/10 EGM, why did he still remain as president? (His reason being, there are still lots to do. Do we smell the same rotten fish as in MIC?)

2. The committee in the Presidential Council promised to resign if they fail in the 2nd resolution in the 10/10 EGM, but until now, have kept mum. Are they trustworthy in the future?

3. Liow Tiong Lai will be elected to be deputy president. Is there such article in the party constitution that states that the CC has the power to appoint the deputy president? Is it fair to the delegates?

4. Ong and his party has mentioned over and over again that holding fresh election in MCA is too time consuming and money wasting. Now, he has instructed his sec gen to call for and EGM to decide whether fresh polls should be held for the CC. Is this necessary?

This will futher anger the delegates. They have decided on 10/10, but will be asked again to decide on the same issue. Since the president can't keep his words, why should there be another EGM? Why waste more time and money? Since the delegates' votes and voices which is heard loud and clear by the whole nation cannot be accepted by the president, what other means the delegates can do? The political stuggle of the MCA is no longer relevant. It has become a personal agenda. The party constitution is breached. The Chinese in Malaysia will suffer!

His supporters have paraded in front of wisma MCA to asked for Ong to stay. Their reason given is that Ong is needed continue to probe on the PKFZ issue. Well, if you are observant enough, you should know that the time taken for Ong to reveal 'part' of the PKFZ issue is too long. He kept postponing the release of the audit report by PWC. Meaning to say, if he is needed to reveal more, does that mean that there is more to reveal? If yes, why is he still not revealing everything? Is he covering something? Well, again, if the answer is yes, then he is not the kind of leader that we all want.

Honestly, to be fair to Dr Chua, after the sex incident, he has vowed to relinquish all posts in MCA. He did keep his promise, and staged a comeback at a later stage. In terms of credibility, I believe Dr Chua earns more of the delegates' support. As for Ong, not able to keep to his words means he will continue to loose more respect from the delegates. If he feels that the current CC and the presidential council is performing well, then he should just stay on for 30 years, just like what Samy Vellu did in MIC. I think, by the next General Election, his team will collapse. So will MCA, and BN.

I really pity the delegates, who will again have to meet to decide on some personal agenda by the president. Is the message they sent on 10/10 not loud and clear enough? To be fair to all, delegates or not, member or not, it will only be fair if fresh polls is carried out immediately. Let the fight for top posts be open to all, especially to those who mentioned earlier that they are ready to helm MCA. In this democratic country, voting is the best way to resolve any problem. The loser should respect the people's decision and not ignore them and pretend nothing has happened.

Formerly a hard spoken and respectable leader, now he is not much different compared to those politicians in Penang who promised to fight for the Indians for their land at Kg Buah Pala. It's all just plain talk and bullshit! Shame on you....LOSER!!!!

Ignorance or Stupidity

How many times have you encountered incidence where the other person is totally ignorant to the rules or just the way things are supposed to be, around him.

Many times when I boarded a plane, the person beside me was still talking on the plane. They have to be warned by the flight attendants to stop talking and switch off their phone. In my flight back from Kota Bahru last week, there was this man in his late 40s, dressing much like Indiana Jones, minus the hat, plus an Osama bin Laden beard. As the plane was getting ready to take off at one end of the runway, his phone vibrated and he answered it. When he finished the conversation, the plane was already taking off. I said to him "you are supposed to switch off that phone". He replied "yes...yes...". I think he did not switch it off because immediately after the 3 aeroplane's wheels touch the ground, he started talking on the phone again. Such ignorant bastard!

Again, in my previous flight from KL to Langkawi, the same thing happened. This time, they were some Chinaman from China. As the plane is already at the end of the runway, all flight attendants would have sat down, waiting for take off. This guy was talking on the phone.

Well, ever since I experienced an air pocket in midair, I have always have this phobia. This kind of feeling worsened when my friend Michael Ang Ang shared his same experience with me, and he stressed that he hates flying, and everytime he fell asleep in the plane, he will be awaken by a terrible nightmare! Phew.... However, I have also been assured by some friends that the aviation industry today is very safe.

Nevertheless, I do hope the aviation companies come up with some good ideas to stop these ignorant or stupid cowbrains from using their phones during flights.

MCA vs MIC - Oct 2009

"Makkal Sakti" is a very powerful phrase. It means the people's power. The people has shown that they are in charge when the results of the latest General Election was released. BN lost it's 2/3 majority.

In the recent MCA EGM, again, it showed that the people is in power. MCA President Dato' Seri Ong Tee Keat was given a slap in the face when he was given a vote of no confidence as the President. In the MCA history of 60 years, never has a leader been voted out. This is definitely HISTORY in the making!

Meanwhile, the delegates also voted to annul the Presidential council's decision on Aug 26 in accepting the recommendation of the disciplinary board to expel Dr Chua. That means he is reinstated as a party member.

As for the 3rd resolution, Dr Chua failed in his bid to be reinstated as party Deputy President.

Below is the result of the EGM.

Resolution 1: That the members of the general assembly have no confidence in the leadership of president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

Resolution 2: That the presidential council's decision on Aug 26 in accepting the recommendation of the disciplinary board and the subsequent decision of the central committee (if any) to expel or suspend Dr Chua is annulled.

Many people view this as a loss for both leaders. Their rivalry dated back to a very long time, even before the previous MCA General Election in 2008. After a nasty head-logging, both were left injured and embattled; politically, emotionally and spritually.

MCA is in a mess. Even though the party constitution clearly states that 2/3 of the delegates' votes is needed to remove anyone in the party leadership, in this democratic world, Dato' Ong should better come out with a very good solution to solve this crisis. Many past and present leaders have asked him to step down, as to fulfill his promise before the EGM that he has made, which is to resign if he failed to win in any of the 3 resolutions of the EGM. He also vowed that everyone in the Presidential council would resign shall he failed in the 2nd resolution, which he did.

After the shocking result of the EGM, he has taken a 4 day leave, and will be back on Thursday for the Central Committee Meeting. Officially, he is still the President. Therefore, he will chair the meeting tomorrow. The outcome of this meeting is very crucial for future of MCA.

The people has spoken. It is with much pride that I dare say that the delegates of MCA are a clever and matured bunch. They have noticed that the in-fighting between the two leaders are heading nowhere and would cause the party to plunge into deeper crisis, with neither willing to back-off. They want neither to win. They want a new leadership!

Among those who have volunteered to take over the helm is Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, a Vice President who only appeared in the public eyes after winning the previous MCA election. Not much have been heard of him, and definitely in terms of service and experience, he lacks both. However, he has openly declared that he is ready to take over the party leadership if given a chance.

On the contrary, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has kept mum on his future. "Datuk Seri Ong is still the President. Let's just wait and see", are some words that came from him. As expected, these comments should come from a seasoned and experienced leader who has been in politics long enough to know the fate of his political carrier by being patient and humble.

Other VPs are DS Dr Ng Yen Yen and Mr Tan Kok Hong. Dr Ng Yen Yen is very experienced. She became the first female VP in MCA history. However, I don't think she stand a chance if she goes for the top post. As for Mr Tan, he is too low profile.

Past leaders who are still not too old but capable to lead include Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Datuk Donald Lim and Datuk Seri Fong Chan Onn. Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting might also be considered to make a comeback, since age and experience is a much sought-for criteria which he poses.

Well, enough about MCA. As a seasoned follower to Malaysian politics, I shall adopt the usual statement used by seasoned politicians, "we shall see....let's wait and see...". Will tomorrow be a kamikaze day for the President? We shall see....

One of the first 3 parties in the formation of Malaya, MIC, is also in a crisis. Party President Datuk Seri Samy Vellu was at the helm since 1979. While MCA has seen 6 leaders(Tan Sri Lee San Choon, Datuk Dr Neo Yee Pan-acting, Tan Koon Swan, Tun Ling Liong Sik, Dato Seri Ong Ka Ting, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat) changing hands (the 7th might be coming soon), he is still holding on, even at the age of 73 going to 74 next March.

I don't mean to criticise, but is his agenda still relevant?

Peers in this golden era like Tun Mahathir and Tun Ling, have all retired from active politics and conferred the title 'Tun' while he is still there happily helming the party leadership, giving reasons such as the next-in-line is not ready.

When DS Ong Ka Ting offered to be held responsible for the dismay performance of MCA in the previous General Elections, many applauded his action, although he did won in his own constituency. He did not seek for re-election for the presidency. On the contrary, DS Samy lost in his strong hold Sungai Siput. Not accepting responsibility for the poor outing in the GE, he continued to say that he is still needed by the Indians in Malaysia. Logic or not? You tell me. What surprised me most is that he and his team won in the just concluded MIC elections. One month after that, Parti Makkal Sakti is registered and joined Barisan Nasional, with BN Chairman and our PM Datuk Seri Najib officiating it's opening and acknowledging the importance of this party.

Phew....I'm actually sweating as I type....wondering what more can I expect of Malaysian politics. I have to admit that Malaysian politics is very very interesting. Never have I heard of a DPM in any country been charged of sodomy. Twice! Convicted for the first time. Released and pardoned by the next PM. And then came back to haunt him and caused him great losses in the General Election...one thing led to another, and eventually it caused him to follow thru a transition of power in UMNO and as the PM of Malaysia. The former DPM is still going thru court proceedings for the 2nd sodomy case.

My friend once told me, "it is great to be alive...in Malaysia". Every living day, you get to see a new twist in Malaysian politics. To some, it may be annoying. But after a long long time, you get used to it. Take it easy....and soon you'll find it interesting.

Well...let's just wait and see...for the future of MCA in the outcome of the Central Committee Meeting tomorrow. Ciao for now!

The Little Nyonya

Lately, I have watched this Singaporean drama called The Little Nyonya. Everyone who knows me knows that I'm not a fan of series or dramas, but this one really caught my attention. I first watched it when I was back in KL during one of the weekends and accompanied my wife watching it. I was hooked ever since then.

This tale begins in 1930. It is about this pretty little Nyonya, Juxiang (played by Jeanette Aw), born into a rich Malaccan Peranakan Huang family, where her mum was the mistress, but she was deaf and mute. She got bullied along the way. When she was forced to marry as a mistress to a rich Singaporean businessman who is also a sex-craze, she ran away. Right before the Japanese Occupation in Malaya, she gave birth to a girl, Yueniang. Unlike her mother, she was normal. The Japanese Occupation did took her dad's and mother's life. Since then, Yueniang went back to the Huang family and stayed with her grandma. Tian Lan. And so the the tale continues, as Yueniang grew up, got bullied by the Huangs again and again, encountered so much difficulties during her teenage years, until she finally got married... Her destiny did get better in the end, as the Huangs fell apart and went bankrupt. She would be the one who finally saved enough money to buy back the ancestors house and took care of the whole family.

Along the journey, one could see them serve delicious Nyonya delicacies, like the Babi Pongteh, Asam Ikan, Sambal Udang, and some deserts like the Popiah, Rempah Udang, Ang Koo Kueh, Yam Cake, Bubur Cacar, etc. I would say the these food too has played a significant role in making me continue to watch and finish this series in less than 3 days! Altogether it has 34 episodes.

The shooting took place at 3 locations, Penang, Singapore and Malacca, my hometown. One could recognize the shooting location in Melaka if they have been to Malacca lately. One of it is Hotel Puri, where they used it as the house of the Chen family. If you were to visit Malacca, you wouldn't miss the Jonker Walk, a night market on Jonker Street on Fridays-Sundays. Several scenes took place there, and also the street next to it, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. I used to stay at one of the houses when I was small. The house is about 20 feet wide, but it is soooo.... long. In front of the house, above the door, there would be a plaque with 2 Chinese characters, symbolizing the family/ancestor name. You can only find this unique feature in an old Baba Nyonya / Chinese house thesedays.

Sometimes, while watching the movie, I would think of my mom. It really brings back old memories... good old memories.... I bet Malaccans who watch this series would be touched. It is indeed a highly recommended drama. Go get it....

What's Wrong with the Spaniards?

I can't believe my ears when I heard Xabi Alonso will be moving to Real Madrid. LFC and Real Madrid have reached an agreement on the transfer. It is believed the transfer fee is around £30 mil.

I can't help but be so annoyed when a player rather sit on the bench in Spain than to play first XI in England. With names like Guti, Christiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Wesley Sneijder, Lassana Diarra and Fernando Ruben Gago in the list, how would one expect to be in the starting line-up? You don't have to learn your lesson by falling victim to some lies...you can always learn from the past. Look at Michael Owen, David Beckham and Steve McManaman. They were shining in England before going to Real Madrid, where after 1 season, they would try to pick up the pieces of their football career once again after failing miserably to perform. They would soon loose their places in the national team, and sunshine will never be the same again!

The new season starts in 10 days, Liverpool play away to Spurs. I'm figuring what kind of starting line-up Rafa is going to introduce. He's been an unpredictable guy, putting players of sorts, who can't perform. And yet, you can see the same name in the next game.

Getting Glen Johnson to Liverpool for £17 mil and selling Alvaro Arbeloa for a mere £3.5 mil, is something a kindergarten kid would think stupid to do. Yet, Rafa has done it once again. No one buys a defender for that much money. Arbeloa has proven to be a key figure in the 2008/09 season, and yet is sold to Real Madrid. Maybe his heart is no longer in LFC, and wants to in his home nation. But £17 mil for a defender?

I am starting to believe there's some kind of conspiracy going on with the Spaniards. Very soon, Fernando Torres will leave Anfield, and by then, Rafa will spend another £20 mil on some old and ineffective striker. Believe me, something is really wrong in Anfield...right from the co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, to the manager, to the players.

It's MOTHER's Day again...and it still reminds me of the day we all stood by her side in the hospital bed...the day she left us....

Not much can be said now...it's been the same every year, and it will be, year after year.

I've got the time today, so I googled 'BEST WORDS TO DESCRIBE A MOTHER'. Guess what I found. Very interesting words and phrases.... I'll share it with all of you.

I seldom watch Liverpool games live, but I'm glad I did today. They were superb, trashing Man Utd 4-1, at Old Trafford. They beat Real Madrid also by 4 goals on Tuesday.

Torres showed that he's the better player against Vidic, by over running him for the ball and scored the first goal. Gerrard scored the second thru penalty. Then Fabio Aurelio scored from a freekick after Stevie was taken down by Vidic, which earned him a straight red card. Guess what, the 4th goal was scored by Andrea Dossena, a late substitute by Rafa Benitez. If I'm not mistaken, it's his first touch. He must have been the luckiest person on the pitch, after scoring a similar late goal against Real Madrid the other day.

So, end result, Man Utd 1, Liverpool 4.

Chilling Out with my Buddies @ Langkawi

There was supposed to be 5 of them, but one couldn't make it, so 4 of my bestest buddies managed to get away from their busy working life to chill out here in Langkawi. It was indeed a long anticipated holiday for all of us. We've been talking about this trip since the first day I came here in March 2008, and finally they came, after 11 months!

I believe many Malaysians have never been to Langkawi before, and many more prefer to go to other islands like Perhentian, Redang, Tioman, Lang Tengah and Pangkor. Even Penang Island has much more visitors than Langkawi. I'm surprised! Langkawi has an international standard airport, nice sunny beaches, varieties of chocolates, delicious seafood and of course CHEAP BEER/ALCOHOL.... Even for my 4 friends, this was their first time here.

Since I'm familiar with this place, we only went to several nice spots. We did not rush as we knew we are not here to cover all the tourist recommended destinations. Most of our time were spent drinking, eating and sleeping.

On the first day, everyone was so exited. We did managed to cover a few nice spots and took some nice pics. Second day was tiring, lots of travelling and shopping, and most of us got drunk at night. Third day was relaxing. Less travelling, but we had a nice time in the pool catching up with the good old times. I can see that everyone was happy. I enjoyed myself too. Hopefully we are able to get together again very soon.

After dinner, I sent them to the airport and waved goodbye. Their flight was delayed for one hour. Jason and Mike managed to reach KL around 2am, but Zach and Fab reached Melaka at about 3.30am. Phew.....poor thing.....

This year is very special, V-day falls on a Saturday. It's just PERFECT....for couples who are together. For couples who are far away, too bad... but do not worry, for distance makes the heart goes fonder. Is it true? For a short period, yes, but not for too long.

Just like myself, I have some friends who are away from their partner. Here, I'd like to share a nice song by Jim Brickman and Martina McBride, 'My Valentine'. I couldn't get the original video clip by them, I only found the later live version by Jim Brickman and Olivia Newton John. So, enjoy!

Vacation in Langkawi

We boarded the 8am ferry from Penang and arrived at 11am, had our lunch, then headed back to my place to put our luggage. Our first destination was the Telaga Harbour. In Langkawi, there are 2 places where you can see a lot of yachts. One is here, another is near the Kuah Jetty. You'll see that in the later photos.

At Telaga Harbour, one can find several shops facing the sea. Most of them are restaurants which are very romantic especially at night. Also located here is 'The Loaf Bakery and Bistro' owned by Tun Mahathir.

From Telaga Harbour, we went to Tanjung Rhu. Tanjung Rhu has the best beach in Langkawi. The water is clean, the sand is white and fine and the scenery is breathtaking. At this point, you are nearest to Thailand!

This photo is taken at Tanjung Rhu Resort. If you plan to have a quiet holiday, this is the place.

We had our dinner at Palm View Seafood Restaurant. In my earlier posts, I did mention that the price of seafood here is reasonable. Most of the seafood here are fresh and swimming, unlike the other shops that sell dead seafood displayed on ice cubes. If you are unlucky, you'll get those that are not so fresh.

Our second day started with an island hopping trip. First, we went to Pulau Dayang Bunting. It's an island that looks like a pregnant maiden. There's a fresh water lake in this island.

Our second destination is somewhere near a group of islands where we saw our boat commander fed the eagles. There were about 30 eagles flying above us waiting to be fed.

After that, we were taken to another island, Pulau Beras Basah. Nothing great here, but you can go for a parachute ride and play the banana boat. If you come with the snorkelling goggles, then you snorkel with the colourful fishes.

After the island hopping trip, we paid a visit to 2 temples, Loung Phor Khun Temple and another Wat Tham Kisap.

Our 3rd day was spent shopping. You know la....girls like shopping. Even when they are on vacation. We managed to finish shopping in about 3 hours because the shopping mall here IS not as huge as those in KL (Thank God!). Soon, we found ourselves at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, another destination for the yachts.

Since we still have time before the sun sets, we went to The Westin Resort for a stroll on the beach. Aiya, who says only unmarried couples can walk hand in hand on the beach? My personal opinion, this is the best resort in Langkawi.

Our day ended with a takeaway pizza with a bottle of champagne by the sea. Well, sounds simple but she did love it. So do I. An advice to married couples, try something different every now and then. You'll be surprised by how your spouse react to it. That's what that keeps the affection going on and on....

You may wonder why we did not go to those tourist destinations as promoted on websites and brochures. Well, this is her 2nd time in Langkawi. The first time, we managed to cover almost everything on the brochures but we were quite dissapointed with the outcome. I'm sorry to say this but they are all a waste of time and money. Who would want to visit the Mahsuri Mousoleum or Beras Terbakar? A vacation on an island means you should be under the sun, in the water and playing with sand with your loved ones, ain't it?

New State Government in Perak

BN has 28 state assemblymen. PR has 28 state assemblymen. However, the other 3 independants has vowed to pledge their support with BN. Although there were some chaos at the royal palace and the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, the swearing in still took place. The 31 state assembleymen took their oath at the royal palace and form the new government. Pangkor assemblyman Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir is the new Menteri Besar of Perak.

Jelapang State Assemblyman Hee Yit Foong said that she has lost confidence in the former Pakatan Rakyat state government. Even so, she is still being viewed as betrayor to the people at Jelapang. Protestors put up a banner saying "Betrayor of Jelapang voters, betrayor of Perak people" outside her service centre at Jelapang. It's almost a week that she cannot be reached for comments. As an Assemblymen, she should not go into hiding. She should organise a press conference to clarify the whole issue and her stand. I'm starting to feel that PR reps are all sub-standard! Do they have the people at heart? I've always believed that all politicians are the same, they are all opportunists. Be it Dollah, DSAI, Obama, Osama or McCain!

The other two independants are Changkat Jering assemblyman Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and Behrang assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi. Both are already in hot soup after allegations that they have taken bribes. Their case is still court proceedings. I wonder if their actions of changing ship will save their asses. Another 2 sub-standard politician, one of them a former postman.

Meanwhile, former State Secretary Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said the recent hoohaas is not a healthy democratic process. Pakatan Rakyat has described the formation of a Barisan Nasional state government as a coup and unconstitutional. I'm wondering, what if 916 (September 16) as claimed by Dato' Seri Anwar really happened? Is it going to be ethical then? Who started the party hopping issue all these while? Bota Assemblymen has left BN to join PR last month, only to be back with BN after much thoughts. CNY @ Penang

We travelled back to my in-laws place on the 2nd day of CNY. As usual, we got stucked in jams at Seremban.

On the 4th day, we left for Penang. If I'm not mistaken, my last visit to Penang was 4 years ago.

We decided to use the ferry to get into the island. We arrived at noon. We hang out at Taman Kota & Fort Cornwallis before heading to Lorong Selamat for it's famous Char Kuey Teow. At the shop, there are varieties of food, including Prawn Noodles, Popiah, Soup Noodles, Lobak and Muar Chee. I did not notice that the Char Kuey Teow wasn't the once famous Sisters Char Kuey Teow. The Sisters CKT has moved to another shop all by themselves, selling nothing but their CKT. Nevertheless, the CKT that we had tasted good as well.

After lunch, we headed to buy some Tau Sar Pneah. The famous one is made by Him Heang. It's a white building, opposite Hotel 1926. There are many copycats with the same 'Heang' at the back....eg. Gee Heang, or some other 'Heang's but Him Heang's is still the best.

After that, we headed to the famous temples. I never knew that there are 2 temples opposite one another. One is a Burmese Temple with a Standing Buddha, while the other is a Thai Temple with a Sleeping Buddha.

Since we still have time, we went to the Khoo Kongsi. I used to be quite familiar with Penang roads, but I have to admit that this Khoo Kongsi is very difficult to find. We were rounding inside Georgetown for about half an hour. We almost gave up until we met a traffic police who showed us directions to the Khoo Kongsi. Luckily, we managed to arrive before 5pm as the ticketing counter closes at 5pm sharp. The entrance fee is RM4 for adults and RM2 for children. After looking at the architecture, the design of the main hall and all the wall paintings, I was so impressed.

As we exited the Khoo Kongsi, there was another temple nearby. This temple is called the Yap Kongsi. I believe during the earlier times, there were many families or clans who tried to make a name for themselves. But not many prospered like the Khoo family.

That night, we had seafood at Teluk Kumbar. It's a restaurant by the sea, called Hau You (Good Friend). Unlike it's name, this place isn't so good to us after all. We were slaughtered horribly! A steamed grouper the size of my palm cost RM65. A kilo of meat crab (small size - half my palm size) costs RM60. We didn't mind paying a bit more as it's CNY, but the price is really too much.

The next morning, we went to Penang Hill. It's quite warm up there due to the crowd that gathered since as early as 7.30am. Nothing much to see, except for a view of Georgetown from the hilltop.

After Penang Hill, we went to Kek Lok Si. At the foot of Kek Lok Si, we had our lunch. We had Asam Laksa. Although it looked the same, the taste has changed. It doesn't taste that good anymore.

From the foot of Kek Lok Si, I can see that there is construction of pillars and roof to cover the Bronze Statue of Kuan Yin. The pagoda remains the same.

Along the stairs up the hill, there are many small traders doing their trade. After some bargaining, I got myself some colourful T-shirts for RM10 each. Cheap isn't it?

It's hard to believe how commercialise Kek Lok Si has become. Going up to the Kuan Yin Statue, one need to use the cable car. It's RM4. Going up the pagoda, one has to also pay the same amount. According to the temple authorities, all profit goes to the temple. It also surprised me to see a monk standing behind the cash machine as cashier. I do not mind giving donations or some token of appreciation but seeing them imposing fee for this and that, it made me shake my head in disbelief. It's supposed to be a place of worship but now it has become a tourist attraction. There are also monks on loudspeakers asking devotees to donate by writing their names on tiles which will be used to cover the Kuan Yin Statue. Apart from that, one has to also pay to write their names on colourful sheet of tiny paper to hang on the wishing tree. Sigh....

At night, we had our dinner at Gurney Drive. It has changed a lot too. There are more stalls and are more clean and organized.

As we passed by Gurney Plaze, we noticed there were some drums along the main entrance. I guess it's for the celebration of the Jade Emperor. Hence, we took some photos. The drums were really nice.

Our visit to Penang ended on the 6th day of CNY. Instead of heading home, my wife and I went up North. Check out where we went in the next post. Tata.

CNY 1st Day Brunch & Dinner

It's been a tradition that we have brunch (breakfast/lunch) for the 1st day of the new year. This year we had steamboat. It's a rather easy way of getting food ready on the table. Okay, I don't deny that I'm too lazy to cook...Hehe. Anyway, I forgot to snap pictures of the steamboat. Never mind. It's just like any steamboat that you guys prepare. The soup is boiled with chicken bone and lots of anchovies for 2 hours. If you want tomyam, all you need to do is to get the tomyam cubes from Tesco of Giant. Of course it's made of AJINOMOTO, but what choice do you have?

For dinner, we had quite similar food. I have to admit that I'm not a Shangri-la chef, but I'll be experimenting more of the recipes from cookbooks. Hopefully we'll have more varieties of food next year.

The easiest to prepare is definitely the 'yau mak' in oyster sauce. In English, 'yau mak' is Romainne. Just steam the Romainne in boiling water for 1 minute, then pour in some oyster sauce and add shallot oil. Caution : don't cook the Romainne too long, otherwise the leaves will be too soft and you won't get the crunchy bites.

We had steam pomfret in teochew style because my wife loves this dish. It's also quite easy to prepare.

We also had lemon chicken. Deep fry the pre-marinated chicken and then add the lemon sauce. Where to get the lemon sauce? Bingo! I got it from Tesco... It comes in a packet for one serving. However, the lemon sauce is too sour, so you have to add some water and other ingredients to dilute it eg. honey, sugar, etc.

Next is butter prawns. This is my favourite. Although it didn't turn out to be what I expected, it still tasted good.

Another prawn. This time it's prawn in bread crumbs. Prepare the prawns (peel the head and shells), dip in egg and add to the bread crumbs. Deep fry until golden in colour.

If you do cook yourself, you'd notice that most food that I cooked are deep-fried. Why? It's easier to prepare, definitely. But it takes up too much time. Unless if you use more oil. But then again, after deep frying, what are you gonna do with the oil? It goes down the sink.... So, why waste?

CNY - Reunion Dinner

We were supposed to depart from KL in the afternoon, but my wife's Cina-man boss ruined it all. They were forced to work up to 6pm, despite their normal half day Saturday, 2 days before CNY. How inconsiderate!

We end up having dinner in KL, and started our journey at 9pm. Reached Melaka at 11.30pm. We chit chatted a bit with my dad, and my dad suggested to go to the Batu Berendam Wet Market at midnight to get some fresh seafood, so that we can sleep a bit longer in the morning. However, most of the stalls weren't open yet. We had no choice but to go again the next morning. We woke up at 6.30am. We managed to get some small pomfrets(I guess the bigger ones were already pre-booked by restaurants), prawns, cuttlefish and some vege. We detoured to the Sentral Wet Market to get some pork and chicken.

It's a tradition for all Chinese to have a reunion dinner one day before CNY. Since my mom is no longer here with us, I have decided to be the one preparing food this year. I always think that I have the cooking talent within me! One of the reasons why I'd volunteer to cook is that I will have a choice of my favourite dishes.

Yee Sang is a must! It's a combination of fresh raw salmon with a whole lot of vege. All the ingredients are tossed in the air, the higher the better, in belief of achieving greater heights in the year ahead.

Other dishes that I prepared are the Oats Prawn, Kailan Combo (Fried stems and deep-fried leaves), Mixed Mushroom, Steamed Chicken (A Must!), Anchovies & Kailan, Guinness Pork Ribs, Steamed Fish Teowchew Style and Lotus Roots Soup.

Happy Chinese 'Niu' Year

It's the year of the Ox. Will this year be bullish or bearish? It seems like the world economy is heading downwards, but there is still hope that the bull will fight it's way up again.

I'll be heading to KL today, instead of tomorow as planned, due to work commitment. After work, I'll do some light shopping. Tomorrow, I'll do more shopping, especially for groceries and food. You know, after my mom passed away, living in a house of 6 guys who depended so much on home cooked food is so taxing. Luckily I enjoy all the shopping, washing, cutting, slicing, steaming, frying and decorating....The end result, you get some delicious, saliva-dripping food on the table. It really satisfy me to see my XL size brothers gobble down every bit of these food.

I'll make this post short 'cos I gotta shower and leave for the airport.

To all who will be driving home, drive safe.

Lunar Year End Dinner

Known as 'Sou Gong Jiu' in Mandarin. Also known as 'lunar year end dinner' for Chinaman companies.

Every year, be it good or bad, all Chinese around the world will have a reunion dinner with family members on the last day of the year. A week or two before the year ends, companies will have another dinner with staffs within the company and all business related friends. It is a symbol of togetherness and also a way for bosses to thank all staffs who have worked so hard all year round.

Since I'm in Langkawi and unable to attend my company's dinner, I've decided to organise a dinner here with my maincon and subcons. Altho' a small dinner, we were happily munching and drinking, and also recalling our earlier days of the project. I guess most of us were happy because in a day or two, we'll be back to celebrate CNY with our families.

Last year has been tough. With prices of petrol, steelbar and copper up and down, we, in the construction industry were badly affected. In the first half, many projects were put on hold due to the higher than expected prices of raw materials. In the second half raw materials were much cheaper (esp. after the Beijing Olympics) but buying power is low, not only that, the Gov. also has lesser money to spend. Many people got retrenched due to the economy crisis.

Nevertheless, life still goes on. If you have less, spend only on your needs. If you have more, be careful with your spending. It is going to be a very very quiet Chinese New Year. Other than meeting relatives and friends, I guess I'll just stay at home watching tv. One thing that amuses me is that, during CNY, you can just sit in front of the tv all day long and won't get bored.... of course with a can of Tiger in one hand, and a piece of 'bak kua' in the other hand la...

I used to have 2 piercings on my left ear until they closed up a couple of years ago. Never knew the reason why they closed up and never bother to find out. Frankly speaking, I do miss those days. Whenever I see my friends with ear rings, I'd just sigh, wishing I could have the same. It has been my job and my age that has stopped me from having those 2 holes in my ear again. It could also be the reason that I've lost some 'fire' in me.

However, I managed to find the extra courage from within me to get those piercings once again. It could be the Year of the Bull that makes me do it. What ever it is, I do feel energetic and happy again. I really hope this year will be a BULLISH YEAR. People say, life starts at 40. But for me, life starts at 30.

CNY mood

As I was sitting at the 3rd floor of one of the buildings at my site, I could feel the strong wind blowing from the sea. It's the time of the year again. Strong wind, bright sunlight and no rain. I remember when I was little, my mom used to tell me, when you feel this kind of wind, you know Chinese New Year is just around the corner.

Chinese New Year is indeed quite early this year. The X'mas and New Year mood has not gone away, so I'm still in a holiday mood right now. In less than 3 weeks, I'll be back in my hometown for our annual family reunion.

My retired aunt, as usual, has been busy with her cakes and cookies. She has got some cookies up for sale. I don't have the photos but if you are a cookie lover, you'll know the names. I'm not, so I don't know which is which. Haha. Anyway, you can see the photos here.

Well, 2008 has been a bad, bad year for the 'horses'. Hopefully 2009 will be a better year. With the economic situation as it is, I doubt it will.

Langkawi Open Singing Competition

We celebrated for a friend yesterday, for being able to get third placing in the Langkawi Open Singing Competition organised by the Hainanese Association of Langkawi.

He sang a song by Lee Sheng Jie, Yan Di Xing Kong in the final round and got into the top 4, where he sang another song by the same artist, Cha Jian Er Guo. Everyone was so mesmerized by his first song, as he was placed second in the scoreboard in the final rounds. However, luck wasn't on his side in the top 4 as he complained of gastric (alaa...lots of excuses la....). In the end, like the title of the song that he sang, it's a third placing for him....

It's really an achievement for him as this is his first trophy in singing. Master Hung, congratulations.... Keep up the good work, hopefully someone out there might see your talent and sign you up. But, HONESTLY....U GOTTA LOSE SOME WEIGHT FIRST!!! Haha.... ngek ngek ngek......

I was sleeping nicely when the screams of kids woke me up. "What the Fxxk", I thought to myself. It's a nice New Year, and I need a nice sleep. Peeping through the window, I saw some Indians and their kids, whom I guess are only about 4 or 5 years old. "If you can't fxxking swim, just leave the pool. This is not a public pool ok....If you wanna make noise, go to Sunway Lagoon".

Well, they spoilt my morning, and YES! They spoilt my first morning of the year. Fxxking inconsiderate piece of Shit!!! Out of the 9 months that I've been staying here, I honestly think that Indians and Malays who come here for vacation are very very inconsiderate. By 7.30am, they were already jumping and splashing in the pool. They don't swim! They behaved like monkeys, jumping into the water with all sorts of patterns. Then got out of it, and jumped again. It's not just 2 or 3 monkeys, but the whole big family, at least 10 of them. So, when 10 monkeys flock together, u know what kind of mess and noise they can create.

Sorry if you think that I'm offending some people here, but I only mean those who came and stayed at this condo who created so much noise in the morning. There are a bunch of angmohs who stays here, but they don't behave like us Asians, or I'd say Malaysians. What a shame!

Witnessing A Freaking Accident

I've just witnessed a freaking accident. It all happened in seconds....

I was at a T-junction waiting to turn left. As I was about to turn, I saw a guy on a bike speeding in front of me, from left to right. As his sight passed me, I saw his tortoise helmet flew off his head due to the strong wind and also his speed. He tried to grab hold of the helmet with his right hand, which he failed. That was when I have turned to the left. I wanted to laugh because, honestly, this is the first time I see a helmet fly. I looked at my rear mirror to see if everything was ok. The rider wasn't on the road! Then I looked onto the right side mirror, only to horribly find the motorbike lying on the ground. I immediately turned into my workplace (it's just next to the T junction) and asked for help. I sped off to the location where the guy has fallen off.

"Oh God....this is bad....very bad", I though to myself. The guy was unfortunate to hit the column of a billboard. His head bled terribly. He was struggling to move, but his hands and legs was so so stiff as if he sufferred cramps all over his body. At first, I thought he wouldn't survive this but I still gotta do what I'm supposed to do.

I called 999, said my location and got transfered to the emergency unit at Langkawi. I told them to send an ambulance to the accident scene. They took my name and phone number.

It seemed that this guy was tailing his family members who were on a car slightly in front of him. They were curious as they waited for him to come, but he did not. So, they made a 'U' turn and shockingly saw him lying on the ground, with his head full of blood. His dad was in his 50's, quite steady and asked what happened. I explained to him what I saw. His mom was holding him tight, trying to calm him down.

Not long after that, the ambulance arrived. I'd really compliment their speed. They are fast! Good job. They took out a strecture, and we helped to lift the boy onto it, and into the ambulance. Luckily, he's still breathing.

According to the family members, they just arrived today, and gotten the car and bike half an hour prior to the accident. It's so unfortunate that their holiday came to an end with this tragic accident.

My advice to everyone who rides or drives, do buckle up your helmets, seat belts, safety helmet or whatever safety equipments you are handling. Because without buckling up, it is as good as not wearing it. If that guy had buckled up his helmet and fell off his bike, he would have suffered only a knock and some minor scars, no bleeding!

There's one more thing that I must highlight here, that is 'BAN ALL TORTOISE HELMETS'. I seriously think that tortoise helmet is not safe on the road. People may argue that tortoise helmets are safe with proper buckle, but we all know that the tortoise helmet doesn't provide full protection to our heads. It only covers the top half of our heads. Chances that one survive an accident from a fully covered helmet is definitely higher than with a tortoise helmet. There has been some talks of banning the tortoise helmet, but so far, decisions has yet been made by the government. Let's just hope for some good news on this from the government.

Anyway, I pray that this guy is safe and he doesn't suffer any serious head damage.

Exploring Langkawi Island, Malaysia

I first stepped foot in Langkawi in Feb early this year. It was a family outing. Little that I know, I was asked to manage a project here the following month. Time really flies. It is my 9th month in this beautiful place, and it's a really nice place to be at. The only thing which I don't like here is to be away from my beloved wife.

My friend called me last month, informing that he is planning for a breakaway trip to Langkawi during X'mas. Too bad I'll be celebrating X'mas with my wife in KL, so I decided to make life easy for him during his stay here. I've actually emailed him a detailed itinery on the dos and don'ts in Langkawi. Hopefully the info helps.

I'm currently staying with my colleague in a rented condo very near to our construction site. It's a nice place, although we only spend 3 hours a day in the condo, apart from sleeping. In short, we spend most our time under the sun!

The project that we are engaged in is called PULAPOL. It's a police training camp, expected to complete in Dec 2008 but due to the economy crisis, I think it'll delay at least up to June 2009.

After work, most us will hang out at Palm View Seafood Restaurant. Reason being the food is nice, the price is reasonable and the people are friendly. I'd recommend this place for all my friends who plan to visit Langkawi. It's located along Pantai Chenang.

In Langkawi, 3 things are cheap. Liquor, Cigarette and Cars. Langkawi is a duty free island. Everyone who comes to Langkawi doesn't drink water, they drink beer all day and night. Another thing that tourists buy is the chocolate. Although it's not very cheap here, you can many varieties at almost every corner of Langkawi.

I'll make this post short. In my next post, I shall post about the interesting things one can do in Langkawi. Time for dinner. In fact, I'm posting this at Palm View Rest.

Is he worth £250k-a-week? That's the question.

It is reported that Gianluigi Buffon will is willing to leave Juventus for Man City for a fee of £20million + £250k weekly. It's crazy. Are footballers worth this much? No doubt he is a top class goalkeeper but no one can guarantee success. If he's been so influential, Juventus would have been champions in the Champions League many many times. But NO! Hell NO!

Throughout his career, he won the UEFA Cup once with Parma in 1999. In 2001, he transfered to Juventus for a record fee for a goalie of 52 million Euros. He also won 2 Serie A titles and the most meaningful World Cup in 2006. His personal achievements include FIFA Best Goalkeeper of the year in 2004, 2005 and 2006, European Footballer of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2006 and EUFA Champions League most valuable player in 2003.

At 30, he's definitely one of the best goalie in the world at the moment but I'd respect the Sheikhs if they give £250k a week to the hardcore poor and needy people in Africa.

Snatch Thief

Another poor innocent auntie became a victim of snatch thief. It happened in Bukit Mertajam in broad daylight. The 58 year old auntie was walking to her car after makan with family members when 2 guys in full faced helmet rode over and snatched her handbag. The momentum caused her to be flung over to the middle of the road where an incoming 3 tonne lorry crashed into her. She died on the spot. It happened in front of her family members.

What the Fxxx is happening to our country? How many snatch theft have happened in the past few year? How many innoccent rakyat has sufferred and died? And how many of these cases has been solved? Can we have the statistics? Is the Police Dept too shy to publish the lousy statistics? If ever a snatch thief is caught, why not publish their faces in newspapers to embarrass them as a lesson to other snatch thiefs not to do it again? How I wish Saddam Hussien is still alive, these mutha fxxkers shall be stoned to death.

As a reminder, in instance of an emergency, always remember the motorcycle plate number. I think, if someone ever caught a snatch thief, and I'm in the vicinity, I'll definitely give him a tough lesson before handing him over to the police. Because everyone knows what the police will do to this guy. It's sad that all of us feel that the police has lost it's credibility over the years....

My condolences to this auntie and her family members. May you rest in peace.

I'm Glad To Be Living In Malaysia

As of today, at least 150 people have died in the Mumbai terrorist attack. A group called Deccan Mujahideen claimed to be responsible. Hopefully there will be no more lives taken away from the innocent people of Mumbai.

In Bangkok, government protestors are causing chaos in the airport. It's such a sad thing to happen. Unlike John McCain, after he lost the election, he urged all his supporters to support Barack Obama, so that all Americans can enjoy a peaceful and stable America. That's what LEADERSHIP and RESPECT is all about. You don't gain respect by organising protests and riots, and causing chaos. I believe if there is another election, Thai Rak Thai party will again win with great margin.

Few hundred miles away, we Malaysians, are in our normal daily lives. It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and the best thing to do is go SHOPPING....

I'll stop now to shop for some groceries.... but let us all pray for peace in this world.

I Dreamt of My Mother...Again...

Two days ago, I dreamt of my mom again.

I was sitting at my study table in my rented company house in Langkawi, then mom walked into my room and passed me some cashew nuts. As far as I recall, mom had never come to Langkawi before. How would she appear in this dream? Funny ain't it? My wife said maybe mom missed me very much, and decided to visit me. Maybe...but one thing is for sure. We all still missed her very very much....

This is also what we heard during the MCA party elections. Changes have been made. But only on the party line up. Other than that, nothing has changed!

Party President is in France for ministry duty. Deputy President is on a 2 weeks break. What the heck? What about the Vice's and Central Committee Members?

The apointment of Mdm Low Siew Moi as Acting PKNS GM has been a blardy hoo haa. What is the issue here? An employee with 30 years of experience can't be an acting GM while looking for the 'right' candidate? The then 'right' candidate will be under 'training' by Mdm Low for one year before given the green light to be appointed the new GM. What a laughing stock! You choose the 'right' candidate, put him/her under training, then put him/her there to helm the PKNS. Don't forget, it's PKNS and not PKMS.

Where is MCA when they are supposed to stand up for the Chinese? Even Anwar is standing by the Selangor Gov's decision and support the appointment of a Chinese for the meantime, but what has MCA done? Keeping quiet? Taking a 2 weeks break? You should have more energy now that you have stopped all unhealthy sexual activities, so you don't deserve this 2 weeks break!

Syed Hamid Albar wants Zaid Ibrahim to apologize for his remarks on the Malay Supremacy. He said Zaid has hurt the feelings of the Malays. I wonder if he will use the ISA on Zaid. Over the past few months, Syed Hamid has put Teresa Kok, a Chinese Daily reporter and several HINDRAF supporters into ISA detention. He has also outlawed the HINDRAF organisation. Reason given being HINDRAF is destabilising the country and a threat to national unity. Come on Botak, in this case, you should also suspend Penang UMNO.

It's sad to know that before the MCA polls, the newspaper is full of MCA leaders saying this and that, but now, no one is saying anything. Everyone has kept quiet. Lim Guan Eng has congratulated Najib on his success of becoming the future UMNO President. But not even one MCA leader dare do so. Will it jeopardise his chances of holding any important post during the admistration of Badawi? Is it really so?

I Dreamt of My Mother

Exactly one year after she left us, I dreamt of her.

In the dream, it seemed that we all knew she suffered a stroke. But she's recovering and looked fine. She could walk and talk slowly. Also in the scene were our relatives who visited us. The dream was quick. It all happened in about less than a minute. Then I woke up.

I do still miss her. Everytime I went back to my hometown, I'd hope that she's there. But it never happen, and will never. Nevertheless, I'm very glad to see my dad at home. Lately he has complaint to me that he is aging. His work is very demanding and one of his legs got swollen after a long day's work. When I hear that, my heart sank.

This weekend, I'm flying back to KL. I'm thinking of going back home to see my dad's condition.

To all my friends, if you have time, spend some on your family when you still can. Have a great weekend. Take care.

Finally....Stamford Bridge's unbeaten 86 games' home record were broken. Liverpool convincingly put them in the blues with Xabi Alonso's strike. Final result, 1-0.

It has been a while since Liverpool managed to start so convincingly in the EPL. They are top now and has a very high chance of grabbing the title after a long long wait.

Today is also a special day for all the Hindu's, Happy Deepavali to all devotees.....

The MCA General Assembly has just concluded yesterday. The outcome of the assembly has drawn mixed reactions from all parties.

As expected, Datuk Ong Tee Keat has beaten Datuk Chua Jui Meng for the top post. Datuk Ong is an outspoken leader, who has been vocal all these while to voice out his opinions and views, which at times has even angered the leadership of UMNO. He is the current Transport Minister. However, he has not much to boast in his track record except 2 Deputy Ministers in 2004-2008.

It was a much tighter race for the deputy post. Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek (DSDC) has made a comeback since his sex scandal in Dec 2007. He was filmed having sex with his "close friend" and immediately resigned from all Gov and party post. Barely a year since his resignation, he decided to make a comeback. At 61, looks like he's still got Ooommpphhh.

Datuk Kong Cho Ha obtained the most votes for Vice President. He is the current Deputy Finance Minister. Second is Datuk Liow Tiong Lai, former Youth Chief. Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen made history as the first female Vice President of MCA. Surprisingly, she managed to beat candidates like Datuk Chor Chee Heung. Last but not least is Tan Kok Hong from Johor. He is the Bekok Assemblyman.

This line-up seems quite strong, however if they fail to do what they promised, it'll be just another 3 years of NATO (No Action, Talk Only). In their party elections manifesto, they pledged to do this and that, so now they have 3 years to prove their worth. Many things can happen in 3 years, so let's just wait and see.

The casualties this time include several capable leaders. Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan (Housing and Local Gov Minister), Datuk Chor Chee Heung (Deputy Home Minister) and Teng Boon Soon (Deputy Unity, Culture, Art and Heritage Minister) all lost in their bid to be Deputy and Vice Presidents. Their fate are left hanging on thin thread as the new leadership will decide on what to do next.

Personally, I feel that the Vice Presidents' post is a tough battle as each of the candidates have their own supporters. I have never expected Datuk Chor Chee Heung to lose!

Another surprise is the defeat of Dato' Seri Ong Ka Chuan (DSOKT). Even our DPM expressed his surprise when DSOKT lost to DSDC. In DSDC's campaign, he said that MCA should rejuvenate and reinvent, especially after a shocking March 8 election. It is easy to say, but what ideas has DSDC come out with so far? He said the party president should be responsible for the defeat, therefore Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting has vowed to step down and not to recontest. He kept his word.

As a party veteran, I think DSDC should also keep his word. Ever since his sex scandal broke hell loose, he has vowed to resign from all party post. His embarassment should not be brought into MCA, but now, it is not the case. He claimed that he has fought back from division to branch to state and then national level. He also claimed that the grassroots has supported him to fight on.

He has urged the delegates to reject empire building in MCA. In my humble opinion, is he talking about the Ong brothers? DSOKT is no longer the President, so what empire is he talking about? During the March 8 election, his son Chua Tee Yong was selected to fight in his constituency. Is this not Empire building? Our PM's son in law Khairy Jamaluddin is going for the UMNO Youth Chief post, does he ever condemn this Empire? Dato' Seri Najib is the son of Tun Abdul Razak, also another Empire? Najib's cousin is Hishamuddin, the son of Tun Hussein Onn, grandson of Dato' Onn bin Jaafar, also another Empire?

Since DSDC has won as the No 2, he said he knows what to do and he pledged that he would behave like a No 2. Does that mean that he will again be the 'Yes man' who will always stand behind the party No 1 and wait for a chance to kick him out and take over? Or will he start voicing out for the Chinese community in the whole country instead of only for Johorean Chinese? Being involved in a public sex scandal a year ago, I don't think he will be elected into the Government again. So, without being in the Gov, I wonder how will he be vocal enough to voice out for the Chinese Community.

It may look like I'm against DSDC but frankly speaking, a leader should show good example and have good behaviour. No matter how capable a leader is, if he has no discipline or indulge in immoral activities, it is very bad for the party. Remember Bill Clinton? It's a laughing stock, I think you do agree with me.

Anyway, the people has decided. Let's just hope the new leaders are better than the old ones.

Kiamsiap People

It's such a pain in the ass when I meet stingy people. In hokkien, stingy is 'kiamsiap'. In malay, it's 'kedekut'.

Whenever you go for food with someone else, either lunch or dinner, when it comes to paying, it's either you pay, he pays or you go Dutch. But when you initiate or invite the other person, it's always a courtesy to have the bill. I think Malaysian men are most generous or gentlemen when it comes to paying the bill. In other parts of the world, be it women or men, they pay separately. It has always been a known fact that European women would pay for their own food/drinks. And altho the macho hairy guys appreciate the company of the long blonde haired lady, they don't always seem to pay the bill.

When I was young, older people told me that one need to be thrifty to be rich. When I grow up, I believe being thrifty is good, but not stingy. Have you ever been invited to lunch and end up paying for the bill including for the person who invited you? It's not due to courtesy, but it's due to the fact that the inviter pretends not to dig his pocket for his wallet after a long session. Well, I have met these kind of people many times. Sometimes I wonder, how can this person be so thick-skinned? How would you expect others to accompany you for a meal next time? The fact is....these kind of people do exist; and there are many many of them around.

There's another funny thing that I have been observing all these while. Most of us drive to work. And most of use highways of which we have to pay a toll whenever we pass. I've seen many Proton Saga's and Perodua Kancil's with SMART TAG, and I've also come across E-Class' and BMW's that queue at the normal 'pay as u go' booth. It's disgusting, isn't it? How can these miser afford to drive big cars but can't afford to buy a SMART TAG?

It's a strange world we are living in, isn't it? If you'd only stop doing whatever you are doing for a moment, and observe your surrounding, you'd see strange and funny things happening. Sometimes, you wonder why? But it still happens. Maybe God purposely make it happen so that we could at least afford a little smile and laughter, after a long long day at work.

Awwwrrgghhhh.....it's Monday blues again.....Can't wait till it's Friday.....

The Kops registered another 3 points, thanks to 2 goals from Fernando Torres. Chelsea stayed on top after beating Stoke 2-0. Man Utd also won with a 2-0 margin against Bolton. Newcastle seems to be in real deep trouble with another defeat, 1-2 against Blackburn. On form Villa triumphed against Sunderland 2-1. The Hammers gave Zola his 2nd win with 2-1 against Fulham.

Later, Arsenal will host Hull. It's gonna be an easy game at the Emirates, with most of Arsene's young players on fire.

Newcastle sufferred another blow as they were hammered by the Hammers 3-1. Now they are second from bottom. Liverpool again proved to be a disaster, drew with newly promoted Stoke. They had a goal disallowed, and many many shots at goal, but couldn't find the finishing touch. It's just like any other seasons before this, where they were the favourites but couldn't provide the winning goal. I think the betting syndicate is spoiling the game. Arsenal showed their credibility by winning 3-1 against Bolton, climbed to the top of the table.

Tonight Chelsea will host Man Utd at Stamford Bridge, I guess the Blues will triumph over Devils, 2-0.

Then my friend told me the whole thing about Tony (he has a title Dato' but prefers people calling him by the name 'Tony'...what a humble man!) commenting in my blog for my latest post about the bad experience I had with Air Asia.

But hey! As I've written on the top of my blog, "this blog is created entirely for my own pleasure...blah...blah...blah....", I never expect to be getting comments from high profile figures, what more from Dato' Tony. Phew! It is indeed a great pleasure. I would like to thank Dato' for getting in touch so quickly. Despite some hick-ups here and there, I really think you guys at Air Asia are doing a GREAT job. Besides him, I also got a follow up comment from the PIC of F&B Ms Shireen Chia. Thank you for your concern, but pls do not punish the flight attendant. A warning will do.

Accepting criticism (although not many can take it) and be able to digest it to be more efficient, I think this is the main reason why you guys are going to grow from strength to strength. Air Asia always welcome comments, criticism and ideas; I just found out from Dato' Tony's blog http://www.tonyfernandesblog.com/ that he has actually set up a personal email for suggestions and complaints @ tony@tonyfernandesblog.com. Thumbs up to you!

Well, to be frank, apart from this incident, my other flights with Air Asia have been pleasant! In fact now, knowing that people in Air Asia are a caring cool bunch of people, I have more faith to fly with them. I have been, am still and will always continue to support Air Asia.

Bad Air Asia Experience

I travel with Air Asia to and from Langkawi very frequently. So far, I've had no complaints with their service, until my last flight.

I was on board AK 6303 on 12/9/08, 1145 hours from Langkawi to LCCT. Due to some work held-ups, I was late to check in. Air Asia require one to check in 45 mins before departure. I arrived at 11.20. The ground staff at first declined my check in, but after checking with his senior, allowed me to board the plane. Thank you!

I had my lunch in the plane. I ordered the Ramadhan promo, a combo set with combinations of nasi lemak Pak Nasser, mineral water, 3 red dates and a butter cake. I've had this nasi lemak a few times already, but never have I gotten a packet with oil all over the sides of the package. I did not ask for a change as I thought I'm a careful eater and won't have any problems, except for some oily fingers. Things turn bad due to turbulence, and I got my favourite shirt stained with the yellow oil. Not only that, the half full 100ml mineral water poured onto my pants, which made me look pretty bad. Then as I was about to unwrap the butter cake, I saw a sticker written as "GUNA SEBELUM 12/09/08". I was surprised. I called the flight attendant and told her about the expiry date. She looked at the sticker, then stared back at me and threw the cake into a rubbish bag. Not only she did not replace the cake but she does not even have the courtesy to apoligize for the error. Serving expired food is a very very huge mistake in the food industry.

I was shocked with the attitude of the flight attendant. She could be on her period, lost her puppy dog or dumped by her bf. It's not the matter of me being cheated of a butter cake (although I have not taken my breakfast, and was so so hungry). What matters is the way she handled the whole situation. I hope the F&B dept of Air Asia make thorough checks on their food daily. And someone please do some checks on their flight attendants. I think the standard and attitude of flight attendants are getting worse by the day.

I think I posted this faster than ESPN Soccernet or Livescore.com. Liverpool has just won the battle with MU. Tevez stroke first in only 3 minutes into the game to take the lead. It was a very beautiful goal. A mistake by Van der Saar with Wes Brown caused the away team an own goal. It was 1-1 at half time. Liverpool added some OOMMPPHHH in the second half. Babel came in for Alberto Riera on the 72nd minute, and scored on the 78th. Having watched MU play for half of my life, I knew things will get pretty ugly after the second goal. True enough, Nemanja Vidic got a yellow card for a tackle on Robbie Keane. It should have been a red card, because it's a goal scoring opportunity for Keane. He got away. However, another rough challenge on Xabi Alonso caused him a second yellow.

In the end, it was 2-1. Liverpool top the group. Chelsea will play away at Man City later at night. We'll see wether Robinho made the right choice to move to City instead of Chelsea.

Sept 16 is coming

If what is claimed by Anwar that he will topple the current gov on Sept 16 is true, then it's going to be a bloody 9-16. May 13 (5-13) will repeat itself.

I urge all Chinese to stay united, no matter MCA or DAP supporters, because in a time of crisis now, where the Ismail is fxxking all Chinese in this country, UMNO is not taking any drastic action. So is PKR. So, do u still think Anwar is the saviour? He's a politician. A politician will always be a politician. All politicians are opportunists. In this chaos, Anwar chose to keep quiet, because if he makes noise, he will loose the Malay votes. In fact, I've been waiting for a few weeks already for Anwar to fight for equality, but what is promised by him will never happen.

My friends told me, "let's make a change, if he (Anwar) fails us in 5 years, we change again". How many 5 years do we have? I'm sure everyone agree with me that Anwar is a very very smart chap. Assuming he succeed in 9-16, and assuming that he fails in 5 years, do you think he will allow others to topple him then? There will be more than just ISA, OSA, blah....blah....blah.....

So my friends, wake up! If he is really fighting for equality, he would have stood up and spoken up for the Chinese since 2 weeks ago. Let's not talk about PAS, b'cos if you ask them, they will definitely agree with Ismail.

If you have been interested in Asian History in Form 1-3, you will know where the Malays come from. Need I say more? It's the aborigines(orang asli) who owns this land. After so many years, the gov finally recognised them and starting to subsidise them. However, most of them, the original people of Malaysia still lives in a state of poverty, in outskirts. Although all wear clothes nowadays, many still live in wooden huts and feed on forest harvests.

What surprises me is that Dollah took more than 2 weeks to take action, suspending him for 3 years from all party posts. Like what Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon said in his debate with Mr Lim Guan Eng, transferring the staff who made a mistake in the land issue is not a punishment; then do u think suspending A. Ismail is a punishment? Let me tell u what is a punishment. Arresting a reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng for reporting the truth who was deemed to be heating up racial sentiments, is a really really bad call. The Fxxker who said all Chinese are immigrants got away unscathed. I really do not know what this country has become. Dollah, can I tear your poster and post on youtube? Can I?

MCA, Gerakan and DAP has voiced out their unhappiness on the whole issue. But where is PKR, PAS, MIC, PPP and other political parties? Ismail not only mean the Chinese in his remarks, but also all immigrants other than Malays, incl. Indons, Thais, Pakistanis, etc. Ismail, have you forgotten who are the ones who slogs day and night to build KLCC and the house you are staying in? You are one damn ungrateful mother fxxka....

Robinho has moved to Manchester, it's Man City, not Man Utd. It's a record 32.5 million pounds for Man City. Robinho is an interesting player, but I doubt he will create an impact in the English Premier League.

After months of talks, Berba finally moves to Man Utd. They paid 30.75 million to Spurs. I bet all parties involved, Fergie, Berba and Spurs are happy that this transfer finally took place. Berba will definitely be a goal poacher because I believe he is very talented, skillful and sharp in front of goal.

The biggest loser of the week? Chelsea. They drew 1-1 with Spurs and failed to lure Robinho to London.

Manchester United - Bad Start to the New Season

Altho they won the charity shield through penalty kicks, Man Utd's strikers are unable to find the net for the first few games.

First game of the season, they drew with Newcastle, after trailing 1-0. Darren Fletcher fired the equaliser to make it 1-1. In the second game against Portsmouth, again Fletcher got the winning goal. On Friday, they lost to Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1 in the Euro Super Cup. It's a clash between last season's Champions' League winner agains UEFA Cup winner. Worse still, skipper Paul Scholes was sent off in the 90th minute for a handball. Looks like they are going to have a tough time ahead, with Ronaldo still out due to injury, and Rooney and Tevez unable to find their form.

Congrats to Liverpool for their 2nd win in the premiership. Liverpool managed to get 2 late goals through Jamie Carragher, 85th min(he has not score a goal for years) and Captain Steven Gerard in injury time. However, Carra's goal was considered an own goal after the shot got a deflection on Emanuel Pogatetz.

In the first half, it's Boro's goalie Ross Turnbull who stole the limelight when he did saves after saves, to deny Torres and Kuyt. Boro got the lead through Mido. Gerard was so quiet for about 90 minutes when finally, being the maestro he is, struck a super long shot outside of D into the top right corner of Boro's goal mouth. End result, Liverpool won at Anfield 2-1.

Beijing 2008

The Beijing Olympics has just concluded.

It was a spectacular 16 days of sportsmanship, glory and achievements; except for a few incidents.

The closing ceremony was not as impressive as the opening, though I'd give an 8/10 compared to 10/10 for the 08.08.08 opening. Nevertheless, the art of fireworks was amazing.

Highlights and Incidents of the Beijing Olympics:

1. Usain Bolt became the 1st person to win both the individual 100m and 200m sprint and 4x100m relay with world records in all 3 events. He's only 22.

2. Michael Phelps became the most gold medals winner in an Olympic, capturing 8 and a record 14 gold medals(6 from Athens 2004)

3. A Hungarian weightlifter Jaros Baranyai dislocated his right elbow during an attempt to lift 148 kg in clean and jerk.

4. Cuba's Angel Valodia Matos, after being penalised by the referee for taking too much injury time, landed a Wong-Fei-Hong "no shadow kick" on the Swedish referee. The referee required stiches to his cut lips.

5. Lee Chong Wee...oops Datuk Lee Chong Wei, despite being tamed by World No.1 Lin Dan in straight sets, was conferred a Datukship

6. South African amputee Natalie du Toit finished in an amazing 16th in the 10km open water race. Respect! Respect!

7. The whole Chinese nation cried when Liu Xiang, who started in the heats of 110m hurdles pulled out immediately with an injured Archilles' tendon.

8. Shocking American men and women 4x100m relay team dropped their batons in the heats. Jamaican women's team also dropped their baton in the finals of the 4x100m relay. Shocking!

9. Gymnast Yang Wei realizes his dream to win gold in individual all-round event. However his fellow countrymen, the young Zou Kai has 3 golds, winning the team event, horizontal bar and floor exercise.

10. Australian Matthew Mitcham's final attempt with 4 full 10s managed to pip Chinese Zhou Luxin who had a miserable final dive, for a gold; ending China's domination in the diving event. China finished with 7 golds.

11. China ping pong players(men and women) swept clean all golds offered, winning the team gold, and individuals (gold, silver and bronze).

12. Australia's Stephanie Rice is women's best performer, with 3 golds in 400m medley, 200m medley and 4x200 freestyle relay.

During these 16 days, I enjoyed most watching gymnastics. To be frank, almost every country that performed on each events had a fair chance of clinching a medal. It was heart-thumping when I watched the Chinese team of Yang Wei, Zou Kai, Chen Yibing, Huang Xu, Li Xianpeng and Xian Qin in action against Japan, US, Russia and Korea. I also enjoyed watching US gymnast Nastia Liukin perform. She must be the most beautiful olympian ever! Her father is a former Olympian champion and her mother is a former gymnastic World Champion, no wonder she is the 'Beauty with Talent'.

EPL '08/'09

The new season of beautiful EPL football is just around the corner, kicking off with the Community Shield between last season's EPL Champion, Manchester United FC vs last season's FA Cup winner, Portsmouth. However the game was however dull, due to the fact that Man U was without Rooney and Ronaldo because of injury. Portsmouth started with their new signings Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe upfront, being not so effective, I guess it's because their height. Crouchy is about 2 heads taller than Defoe. Goalless after 90 minutes, both teams headed for penalty. Final score, Man U won 4-1. Portsmouth had 2 spotkicks over the bar, and another one saved by Edwin van der Saar. I don't understand how players who train for longer hours than watching TV can miss the penalty kicks. Ridiculous huh?

Arsenal has been impressive in pre-season with their young players. It's pretty amazing that Arsenal's youth development program is working so well, unlike Liverpool's. Liverpool is still stuck in the Gareth Barry transfer saga, CEO Rick Parry claiming that the asking price of 18 million pounds by Aston Villa too expensive. Let's be frank, with 20 million pounds, you can get players like Kaka, Ronaldinho or other top young players with better reputation, future and prospect.

I've just watched Tottenham played Roma, won convincingly with 5-0 margin. That's really impressive. I bet Tottenham will finish in the top 5 this season. Chelsea should be a potential title contender with new signing Deco and some good players like Drogba and Lampard decided to stay on.

Anyhow, let's just wait for the first game on 16th August.

A DAP municipal councillor in Penang, Tham Weng Fatt was summoned while at his girlfriend's pub due to operating the pub without a license. As a municipal councillor, I'm very sure he is aware that his action is wrong. Due to the fact that the present state is run by the DAP gov, he is taking the laws under his own hands. While defending himself, he said that his application was rejected and he has filed an appeal. Even a small kid knows that without a car license, you can't drive; and without an entertainment license, you can't operate a pub. So, does it mean that every single Penangite who applied for a scholarship from the Penang state gov shall have their applications approved?

However, CM Lim Guan Eng is fast at responding to this issue, giving his commitment that action will be taken against Mr Tham if his explanation is unsatisfactory. Let's just wait and see.

Last week, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah has decided to give way to his beloved husband Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim to recontest for a by-election at Permatang Pauh. It is a wise move by Anwar, to avoid any gossip that PKR is controlled fully by his family; and also to what has been claimed by Anwar all along, that his wife was at politics by coincidence. The date has been confirmed. Nomination on 16th Aug and polling on 26th Aug. Both supporters has been busy putting up posters and flags. It is said that Permatang Pauh UMNO Division Chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid has been proposed to contest against Dato' Seri Anwar. I think it'll be an easy win for Dato' Seri Anwar.

As I was searching for related news about the by-election, I found the above picture in one of the websites. What a joke! It's real funny...although at this hour, my sleeping housemate will just wake up upon hearing my laughter....I would say the PR supporters are really creative (even during the March 8 election), but putting their talent to waste.

Other happenings this week: among others is the Beijing Olympics on 08.08.08. For the Chinese, the number '8' is an auspicious number. It symbolizes wealth and luck. However, prior to the Olympics, China was hit by a big earthquake at Sichuan costing many many innocent lives. After the incident, all the Chinese community around the world stood together to lend a helping hand to the victims and together, they managed to pull through this difficult time. Let's just hope the opening ceremony goes on peacefully and joyfully as it is rumoured to be in danger of terrorists attacks. Hopefully it stays on as only 'rumour'.

The Ant and The Grasshopper

I believe many people have heard of this story during childhood. Well, there is a twist in the new version. Like it or not, it's gonna stay this way for a long, long time....

Old Version

An ant worked hard in the sweltering heat all summer, building its nest and laying up supplies for the winter. A grasshopper thought the ant was stupid not knowing how to enjoy life. It spent its days laughing, singing & dancing thoroughly enjoying the summer.

Came winter, the ant was warm, comfortable and had no shortage of food. The grasshopper had no proper shelter, no stored food, and couldn't find anything to eat from the snow-covered ground. So it died and the story ended.

New Version

Came winter, the shivering grasshopper called a press conference and demanded to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while he was cold and starving. TV1, TV2 & TV3 showed up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper alongside to a video clip of the ant in his comfortable home with a table full of food. The majority of the MPs were stunned by the sharp contrast. How could this poor grasshopper be allowed to suffer?

Kheiry staged a demonstration in front of the ant's nest. Nezry went on a hunger strike along with other grasshoppers demanding that they be relocated to warmer climate area during winter. The Government immediately passed a law forbidding all ants from working hard in the summer so as to bring about equality of poverty between ants and grasshoppers. Hishammudyn increased 'More Special Reservations' for grasshoppers in Educational Institutions & in Government Services...

The ant was fined for failing to share 30% of his food with the grasshopper. The PM announced that this was part of the NEP. No ant should question it. Many years later...Some ant migrated to the US and set up multi-billion dollar companies there.

Hundreds of grasshoppers still died of starvation despite the 'More Special Reservations'. Losing significant number of hard working ants and free loading the grasshoppers, Bolehland remained a developing country, despite its abundant natural resources....all because the remaining ANTS were still doing their work.

Latest finding showed that almost all the grasshoppers in the political arena and civil service were hoarding corrupt wealth which they refused to share with fellow grasshoppers causing the poor grasshoppers to retaliate and demand for a REFORM!

As I already knew, there would be more political hoohas in the past one week, and more to come...

This time around, it's about cars....yes, luxury cars.

Terengganu Menteri Besar, Ahmad Said defended his stand for the purchase of 14 E200 compressors, costing the state gov some handsome 300 over k. His reason being the maintenance cost is much lower compared to our Malaysian made Proton Perdana in the long run. I don't think this is the right time. With Penang, Perak and Kedah just felled into hands of Pakatan Rakyat in the recent election, enjoying the benefits from the people's money is the last thing they should be doing. Do these state assemblymen's actions show that they are smart and capable enough to lead the state? You tell me! Worse still, our beloved Pak Lalah did not take any action on these smart asses!

The Penang CM immediately said that they might consider purchasing Toyota Camry as the state's official car. The reason given is low maintenance costs. If this smart-ass thinks he is smart, then he is wrong too. Being able to fly with Air Asia within the first week of appointment, don't be foolish to show your true colours so soon. If you are talking of low maintenance, get a Nissan Sentra. A Nissan Sentra costs cheaper than RM90k, and it's well known for it's low maintenance. Well, it's only a consideration by the state gov, not implemented yet. I'm sure they are testing the water to see the reactions of BN.

Anwar will announce in two weeks, about his comeback into politics and whether he will be fighting in Kulim-Bandar Bahru. Let's just wait and see.

Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne has appeared in the police station again, but this time a police report is made after he got a punch from a PKR accomplice, who is believed to be the PA of Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Gwo Burne was at a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a worship building, due to the complaints by sorrounding residents when the incident happened.

I praise the immediate action taken by Gwo Burne in making a immediate move to the scene after complaints by residents, but did it solve the matter? ACTIONS DO SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, I believe so...but that is not the way matters should be solve. Why not bring it to the street then, Gwo Burne? Any video shootage of the whole incident posted on youtube for us to view? Ala....you are so hi-tech, should have recorded the whole incident mah.....

Lately, Penang CM Lim Guan Eng announced that families in Penang with collective monthly income of below RM1,500.00 will be granted a compassionate aid of RM100 from the state government. Hats off to you man. You are really generous. But have the state government ever consider the case where a family of 3 with total income RM1400, and a family of 8 earning RM1600?

In the papers today, PAS Vice President Mohamad Sabu confirmed that PAS will not be leaving Pakatan Rakyat. If not, then why hold talks with UMNO? Why not hold talks with PKR or DAP? Is it that DAP is unable to accept views given by PAS? Or is it about forming an Islamic State? I wonder how long Pakatan Rakyat will last, and what will happen if PAS wins more seats than PKR and DAP in the next general election.

The world has gone kuckoo.....this is what I personally feel.....

US oil price is now USD136 a barrel and increasing as I type...and my car now needs RM110 to feed every 5 or 6 days.... This is what I don't understand, and I bet many of you out there don't understand either. Our country is an exporter of oil, but we are still forced to pay so much for something that belongs to us. Gov....are you nuts? If we look at the whole scenario carefully, we should be asking ourselves...."are we nuts?".

We Asian countries are producers of food. We catch fishes, plant rice and vege, rear poultry, etc. But in the end, it's the Europeans who are controlling the food price. WTF????

The political situation in Malaysia has gone from bad to worse. Without the 2/3 majority win in the just concluded election, the gov is weak. The opposition is louder by the day. But I don't understand. If you wish to represent the people and speak up for the people, then just do your work as a capable rep, and please show to the people that you are smart. There has been too much nonsense going around. One day, someone says this, and the next day, he says the opposite. If you have evidence to support what you have claimed, just throw it out, and stop wasting everybody's time. Otherwise just shut the Fxxx up....

Let me give you an example. In the Lingam case, an MP claims that he has 4 parts of the recorded conversation in his pc. But he does not have the intention to disclose the other 3 parts. He wants the police to investige this case but he is not being cooperative...causing the smart police to spend so much time and money on investigations. There have been too many trials, but there is no conclusion... yet! All this costs us, Malaysians taxpayers, our hard earned money. After all these years, didn't you learn from past experiences??? The police will just spend more of our money in investigations, and after a long period of time, everyone will walk free. In order to so called 'fight for justice', you have failed us yet again.... by wasting more of our money, when you ask the police to investigate this and that. It will never work, you OLD FOOLS.....

In another case that has been on going for years, the murderer of Altantuya Shariibuu is still unknown. "Some party" claimed that several big shots are involved. They claim so many things, but if they have the evidence, please do not waste any more time. Don't use this as a political game, because if you are really sincere in helping the people, you will not take us as fools and take things on your own hands and expect we stupid citizens to be foolish enough to listen to you, and drag on and on and on......

You are just like any other politicians, who wants to take advantage of the situation, for your own benefits. You are wasting our time listening to news on tv and reading the newspaper. Everyday, there is something new. After a while, it will cool off. It's just part of a politician's game. Sometimes, it looks so real, as if it's better than WWF smackdown, or even than the penalty miss by Christiano Ronaldo and John Terry in the Champions League final.

I bet, there will be more stunning news on the paper tomorrow. Who knows? The guy who claimed that Anwar sodomised him, could just be another puppet used by Anwar himself? Or could he be working for Anwar's political enemy? And where the heck is PI Balasubramaniam now? Holding press conference claiming that he has evidence, the next day MIA. Are we 3 year olds????

Whatever it is, I hope all these hoo-haas stop immediately. If these politicians are really sincere, they have to show that they are working and show to those who have voted for them that they are capable. Don't just dig out something and create a fuss, before understanding the whole thing. If they think they are smart by exposing all that the past gov has done, then they are wrong. For how long can they do that? I'm not saying what some of the MPs have done is wrong, but there are other more important things to do at the moment. Don't feel superior when you are elected, because if the people can put you there, they can also take it away from you. Bear in mind that an MP's no 1 job is to be the representative of the people, to voice out the grievances of the people, not an auditor or agent Fox Mulder who should search for all the ex gov's 'X-files'.

So, buck up all you elected reps....you should be ashamed of yourselves shouting and behaving like small kids on national live tv. Just imagine a 50 yr old father of 3, highly educated, wearing suit, elected rep with the title YB (and some Dato'/Dato' Seri), shouting at one another in Parlimen.

I think every employee in this country, need to be helped! Seriously!
As the petrol and diesel price increase, every other thing increases. A normal employee is being paid the same salary, maybe with an increment of 5% every year(after some review, interviews and grumbling by bosses), maybe...maybe not! From food to accommodation, transport, clothing and everything you can think of, the increase of price is imminent. Now what happens to a non-employee? In other word, an employer. Due to the fact that petrol and diesel has increase, every other thing that he sells or manufacture (take a case study of a shop owner/ product manufacturer) increases too. Petrol/diesel cost could only be a mere 10% of his total production cost, and the 30% increase, will only make the figure an additional of 3% out of 100%. But you see, everything that he manufacture is sold at an increase of 30%. So, when this happens, the rich gets richer. The poor gets poorer. I bet almost 99% of all employees are feeling the pinch terribly, due the petrol price hike lately. Everything falls back to the last user in line, which is the consumer....people like you and me. Food price has increased, but will the food seller go any poorer? The shirt you are wearing, costs more now. Will Padini or Seed go bankrupt? Bus and taxi drivers are complaining, but aren't the fares higher now? So why are the they still complaining? BLR has increased, so do house rents. Anyone of you ever heard of land or house owners complaining? NEVER....In fact, they own more and more properties by the day...

In the end, it's people like us, employees, who make up of 80% of the population in Malaysia, suffering the most. There can be ways to save costs, but what's the point of car pooling, spending lesser, etc.....when you are already much thriftier and choosy than ever on purchasing , and can you share a burger with 2 other colleagues??? Even if we are willing to starve to make ends meet, we can't let our kids and wife starve. Am I right?

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as 'Euro-English'.

In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of 'k'. Man Utd Double

This year belongs to Man Utd. They got back the EPL title from Chelsea, and at the same time won the UEFA Champions League, also by defeating Chelsea in the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the goal scoring with a beautifully placed header at 42nd minute. He rose high above the rest as you can see, with everyone else looking. A good goal.

3 minutes later, lucky Lampart got an equaliser through 2 deflections by Man Utd defence. In the whole game, unlucky Chelsea got 2 efforts hit the post. Man Utd too got several chances saved by Petr Cech.

Didier Drogba showed that he's inferior by slapping Nemanja Vidic, only to be sent off in the dying minutes of extra time. This could well be his last game for the Blues, after speculation of him linked to Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

After a tensed 120 minutes, it was a gamble as both teams were held to 1-1. Both teams selected 5 penalty takers. It was 5-5 and left for John Terry to take the final penalty, which could be the winning kick. JT slipped, and the ball hit the post, yet again. Everone thought it wasn't Chelsea's day. Another penalty kick were to be taken. Giggs stepped up and scored. The final kick was taken by Nicholas Anelka....but his effort was saved by Edwin Van der Saar. It was all but over for Chelsea. The millions spend by Roman Abramovich couldn't bring them any trophy this season. Was it fated? Was it luck? Or was it that the team wasn't good enought? Whose fault was it? John Terry's, for missing the spot kick? Or Drogba's, for slapping Vidic, being sent off and could not take the spot kick, which caused JT to take the final kick? There's no point in pointing fingers now. Guess Roman gotta spend another tens of millions next season to bring in a few more stars.

Man Utd proved to be the best team this season, with C Ronaldo scoring 42 goals this season. The question is, can he do the same next season? Let's wait and see....meanwhile, congratulations to MU for a superb season...

I bet I had fun!

I was back in KL for a meeting, and a short weekend. I was supposed to fly back to Langkawi on Monday, aboard Firefly Flight FY3224 scheduled at 12:10 hours. I was getting ready to leave my house when I got an sms at 9:19.

I was prewarned by some of my friends who heard of rumours that Firefly always reschedule or cancel their flights. Being an adventurous person, I always wanted to experience something for the first time. It was also for the fact that Firefly operates from Subang Airport, which is just a short distance from my house compared to KLIA. Hence, I booked a flight with Firefly.

Upon receiving the sms, I immediately called the number provided. Yes, it's confirmed that my flight has been postponed. I guess it's due to the low capacity of passengers that caused the postponement. I arrived at Subang Airport at 13:20 hours. I was shocked by the condition of the airport. It is dark and old. There weren't many people. There's only one check in counter, that is for Firefly. 2 food vendors operate upstairs, fast food and Malay food.

At 15:00 sharp, they announced the boarding of flight FY3200. I was surprised to see how small the twin turbo Fokker is. The height is merely 3m and the length less than half of an Airbus 320. As I entered the plane, it reminds me of my schooling days. I used to take a bus to school. There are 4 seats on a row, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. The aisle is narrow. If I'm not mistaken, the plane capacity is about 40-50 pax. We were seated while waiting for take off. It was hot as the air condition wasn't working well at the beginning, but soon it was ok. The taking off was scary, it was as if the plane couldn't gain enough momentum to take off. But, the landing is even more scary. We were flying at 400-500km/h. Not really sure of the height, but I could see the oil palm plantation below me, for the whole journey. When we were about to land, I saw the plane passed the runway fence but still at a high altitude. It was going very fast, and dipping very fast too....Oh My God....I was thinking "God, please save me". We passed quite a distance before the wheels touched the ground. The plane swayed a bit to the left and a bit to the right. "Is the runway long enough?" Luckily it is. We landed safely. If you ask me, it wasn't a good landing. It made my balls shrank....really. The passenger next to me, unfortunately flying for the first time, almost puked! Her face looked pale and horrible! Phew....I'm glad it was all over very quickly.

It's such a bad first time experience. Actually, I did make a few bookings with Firefly before this. Now I'll have second thoughts about all this. My life is too precious to be left on the hands of the pilot and the plane.

I hope Firefly will find another approach in their business plan. Otherwise, they will be wiped out in a year. I don't think any passenger on their flights will ever go on a second flight. I'd rather take the trouble to go to KLIA, for a safer and more comfortable flight. After all, we only live once....

Glory Glory Man United

It's yet another trophyless season for Liverpool, due to their inconsistency and the rotation system introduced by manager Rafa Benitez.

Manchester United managed to win away at the JJB, thanks to Steve Bruce, a former Red Devil. It looks like Wigan didn't do their best on the night they hand the title to Man Utd. But overall, I do agree that MU is the best team for this season. Their players are fast, strikers accurate, midfielders intelligent and defenders dependable. It's been a good season for them, with another finale on the 21st May, the Champions League.

I'm actually glad MU won the premiership, rather than Chelsea. Chelsea doesn't play good football. On most occasions, they are lucky enough to get a goal in the final minutes and scrape through with a 1-0 margin. That's not the quality of a champion.

Nevertheless, MU are top, Chelsea 2nd, Arsenal 3rd, Liverpool 4th....all booked a place in the Champions League next season. Let's see some of the pics of last night's heroic efforts and celebrations...

Happy Mothers' Day

I drove home yesterday evening with my wife and my youngest brother. The traffic was ok, but there was a little jam at Seremban, as usual.

I used to do this ever since I started working in KL, about 8 years ago. Every now and then, I'd take the effort to go home, especially on long weekends. Everytime I got home, my mom would be the first to greet me. After all, she's a housewife and she's the one taking care of the house. I'd then make arrangements with my friends on where to go after dinner. I was never at home at night.

It took me a few years until I realise what I had been doing is not right. I knew my 'home' has become just a 'hotel' for me to put up for the night. Slowly, I started spending more time at home on Saturday nights to chit-chat my parents, waking up early on Sundays to have breakfast with them, and then do some shopping in the afternoon, before departing back to KL.

As I was driving back yesterday, I thought of my late mother. How I wish when I reach home, she would greet me with a smile, and there would be her home cook food waiting at the table. No! She's not here anymore. There won't be any food at the table. Things has changed....

Despite all that has happened, I still tell myself to go back whenever I have time, or if there isn't any time, make some time! After all, my dad is still in Melaka. Without my mom's presence, he's more lonely than ever. I'd take the extra effort to go home, every month, even for 2 days 1 night. It does make a big difference. I'm thinking, when I'm old, I too will wish that my kids will be able to come home as often as possible.

Well, as all of us know, today is Mother's Day. As soon as we got up, we headed to the Jelutong Columborium. We did some prayers, and then visited some relatives. Later, we did some shopping at Tesco. I knew my dad hasn't had any home cook food lately, so, I decided to cook some soup and homely dishes for him. It was a nice feeling to have dinner at home with my family, altho not all of my brothers were back.

We didn't have any chance to celebrate Mother's Day with mom this year, but here are some pictures that we took on holidays with her. I can still remember her ever ready smile when we say 'cheese...'. I really wish I had taken her to more places, especially China before she left us. But there's nothing more we could do now. All we can do now is to take better care of my dad...

The photos taken during my wedding were the few last photos she took. She wasn't healthy before the wedding. However, she told us not to worry, as she promise us she'll make sure she managed to drink our wedding tea. She did. But we did not expect everything to come so sudden. She felt dizzy in the evening, and had a minor stroke after that. I should have sent her to the hospital immediately, but I did not!!!! It was when the whole wedding reception was over, only then I sent her to the hospital. By then, everything was too late. I should have taken the immediate action to admit her, but I did not!!!! I knew during my younger days, whenever I fell sick, my mom would immediately send me to the doctor, but this time, I did not take the initiative to do the necessary. Until now, I still regret for not doing so. My advice to all readers: early detection and action could save the life of a stroke patient.

Nevertheless, I will keep my promise to my mom to take care of my dad and my brothers. This is the least that I can do now.....

To anyone reading this...remember, we only have one mother and one father. Appreciate them before it's too late. Spend more time with them now, or else when they are gone, there's nothing you can do to bring them back.

I really want to say 'Thank you' to my mom for everything she has done for us....Selflessly, she did so much for us and never complained. She's the best mom in the whole wide world.

I started watching football in the early 90's. I came to know a few football terms like 'hattrick', 'bicycle kick', 'through ball', 'dummy' and many more, but the most significant for me now is 'super-sub'.

Those days, Man Utd will rely on Olle Gunnar Solskjaer to get the important goal in the last minutes of the game, and without fail, he always got it by hook or by crook. He can never play in the starting line up, because he can never deliver as a first 11. He's always known as the super-sub for Man Utd.

Last week and yesterday, I witnessed 2 super-subs for Liverpool in the Champions League semi final. In the first game at Anfield, John Arne Riise was brought in after Fabio Aurelio got injured. It was 1-1 at 90 minutes, but the 4th official called for 4 minutes of injury time. In the 5th minute, Salomon Kalou crossed a ball into the Liverpool penalty box and Riise mistakenly headed it into his own net. Well, the question here is how come the Referee did not blow the whistle at the end of the 4th minute, and amazing enough, why Riise used his head instead of a clearance with his foot? This reminds me of my schooling days, where my 5th former team lost to our opponents 7-1. In this game, our hero scored 2 own goals, one with his foot and another with his head, quite similar to Riise's goal.

Yesterday, everything was well until the 22nd minute. Martin Skrtel got injured and replaced by Sami Hyypia. Chelsea's first goal came in the 33rd minute through the 'bullish' Didier Drogba. Fernando Torres managed to score one goal in the 64th minute, making Liverpool's dream alive. The score was tied at 1-1. Then came extra time. However, few minutes later our 'super-sub' Hyypia made a wrong tackle and felled Ballack in the penalty box. It was a penalty!!! Frank Lampard converted the penalty easily, a tribute to his mom who passed away last week. At the same time, the magnificient Torres was replaced by Ryan Babel, giving me no hope that Liverpool will advance to Moscow. True enough, Drogba score another goal in the 105th minute. Ryan Babel surprisingly shot from ourside the D, and managed to pull one back, but all is over when the referee blew the final whistle. It ended 3-2.

Chelsea advances to their first ever final of Champions League, a feat they never achieve under Jose Mourinho. I'm not saying Avram Grant is good, but the result speaks for itself. They have 81 points in the English Premier League, with 2 games to play, same as Man Utd but trailling due to goal difference. They have been very consistent of late. No doubt about it, but in the final, my money is on Man Utd. Go go Devils.....

As dissapointing as I may be, I'm still thinking with my rational head. What has Liverpool achieved since their last League victory in 1990. Other than their Champions League success in Istanbul in 2005, they have never justified the amounts of money they spent on players and managers. The fans are starting to get fed up, and the new generations no longer support the Kop. I asked some teenagers lately, they told me they support Man Utd and Chelsea. What happened to the glory of the 80's? Someone please do something!!!! We have a good captain in Stevie G, (only) a good stiker in El Nino, a few dependable midfieldiers in Xabi Alonso, Xavier Mascherano and Ryan Babel, (only) 2 good central defender in Jamie Carragher and Martil Skrtel and a good goalie in Pepe Reina. I'd throw the rest into the transfer list. But I bet no teams will bid for them. That's the situation the Kop are facing now. Let's just face it, fighting for 4th place in the League every season is not what we want. Imagine slogging it out against Everton, Aston Villa, Man City in the winter? WTF??? Altho they managed to secure 4th place, it's not enough. Their game is like a women's mood. Sometimes they win, sometimes they loose, even to much lousier teams.

What can be done? Change the owners, change the manager, change half of the players. Who can do that? I don't know...DIC, maybe?

The Star vs New Straits Times

I have been reading The Star all these while. There is no particular reason, but I guess ever since I started reading The Star, the then NST was double the size of Star, which makes Star a better choice for reading and carrying. The arrangement of articles and colour might have been another reason. But today, I found out one thing. From page 1 to 40 (mid page), there are 28 full pages of advertisements in total, made up of full and half pages. I start to wonder, what am I paying for all these while. For the advertisements, or for the news?

As for the advertisements, sometimes they are useful, but most of the time, we just flip through without thinking twice. As for the news, I totally agree with my friend(a fellow blogger) that they are biased, and anti-opposition. But lately, I do find news which are pro-opposition especially news in the newly formed state-gov of Penang, Perak and Selangor. Not much have been heard about Kelantan and Kedah. Nevertheless, I will continue reading The Star, especially their weekend issues, 'cos if you compare theirs and of NST's, you can see the difference. They definitely have more things to read, which can keep me occupied for the whole morning.

Anyway, I believe many of you are slowly changing to NST....am I right? Any particular reason?

Langkawi...nice?

I've not blogged for almost a month now. The reason being I'm busy setting up my new base in Langkawi. Another new project, Police Training Camp in Padang Matsirat, near the airport.

An overview of Langkawi:

- weather : damn hot with dry sea wind, seldom rain

- people : mixture of malay 75%, chinese 15%, others 10%.

- religion : Islam

- places of interest : hilltop view/cable car ride, Pantai Chenang, Makam Mahsuri, Telaga Tujuh, Galeria Perdana, and many more

- others : duty free island, but only applicable to liquor, cigarette and cars

I've been here for 10 days. The place I like the most is Pantai Chenang. There is a Water Fest ongoing now, which started on the 3rd. There are games and competitions like beach volleyball, beach soccer, sand castle building, drawing, etc.

Overall, if you wanna visit Langkawi, I'd suggest 3 - 7 days...not more. It's quite a boring place especially when you overstay. Luckily I'll be here for 6 - 8 months...and hopefully, our maincon really stick to the schedule.

Many would have aware what happened on 10th March 2008. The people of Malaysia has spoken! History was created.

It's easy to apologise, but what comes after that is most difficult. Some leaders have taken responsibilities, apologised and changed how things was done. To be exact, Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon who lost in Batu Kawan has resigned as Gerakan Acting President. Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting on the other hand, won his Kulai parliamentary seat, but has vowed not to hold any cabinet post and to remain as President to rebuild MCA. Hat's Off to these 2 gentlemen.....

Pak Lah won his Kepala Batas seat again, and remained as PM. Doesn't he has any responsibility to shoulder due to the landslide results of the opposition parties? I'm just wondering.... My opinion is : the swing of the Malay votes definitely shows something. In kampungs, the malays even supported the DAPs, and in some chinese areas, the chinese supported PAS candidate. What has gone wrong? Let us not speculate. Let the right person do the post-mortem, and let them do the talking, and make a change....a change for good.

What took my attention this time around, is that all the opposition parties stood together and fight for the same goal. Not for an Islamic country, not to defend the Chinese, and not to defend the Indians. But they have the same goal, which is to make changes to Malaysia, which has been controlled by the BN for too long. I'm surprised by the crowd turnout at DAP/PKR talks. Tens of thousands stood strong, stood united, stood together...even under the rain. Just youtube them, and you'll see what I mean. Their talks are full of substance....unlike some talks that started with a few speeches and continued with dance and refreshments, which only managed to pull less than 100 people to listen. Up to now, I still believe there are a few faces who really change the history of politics in Malaysia eg. Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Raja Petra, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng.

Samy Vellu, an MP for Sg Siput for 7 terms, finally lost. It is crystal clear that the Indian community has lost confidence in him. Nevertheless, he still feels that he's still very much in favour and has the support of the Indian community in Malaysia, and has vowed to stay on as the President of MIC, to help the Indians to walk through this tough 5 years. OMG!!! I'm thinking, the Indians have been having a tough 30 years under your (not-so-efficient) leadership. "**Knock knock** Are you still in your dreams???" I overheard at the coffee shop this morning, some Indians are very happy that he has lost. At 72, he should just consider retirement, and enjoy life with the tonnes of money that he has, when he still can. Just look at Datuk Zakaria. "Now u see it, now u don't!!!" Gone just like that.....

Datuk M. Kayveas, President of PPP. What have you got to prove? If you are not elected, that means the people don't want you to be there. So, why stay on? Just pack you bag, and go home. In fact, I think the PPP should just call it a day. What is the party fighting for? Until now, I still don't get it. There is no reason for the existence of this party after all.

To others who has lost, just stay and help to rebuild your party. But top leaders should at least do be man enough to do something to show their sincerity to shoulder some responsibilities. If a leader can't even understand this simple fact, then he should not be a leader after all!

The opposition claimed victory in 5 states, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Perak and Selangor. Let's hope the new state government can improve on the current systems. They are now given a chance, they should prove to the people who has supported them, and fight for their rights. Otherwise, it'll be another wind of change in 5 years time.

He's really a Romeo of Hong Kong. Now you know why I call him 'THE MAN'. How many HK star has dated so many female HK celebrities and at the same time, slept with him and filmed together having kinky sex? Initially, there were only a few photos circulating. But after denial from most of the girls, and the fans strongly agree that these pics are a hoax, the person who circulated these pics got pissed-off and circulated more. There are many many more photos circulating....but I'm only gonna show you a few 'more decent' ones.....

Rumour has it that Gillian attempted suicide, but a few days ago, she appeard in front of the press saying that she was young and naive at that time. She has suffered once when her topless photo taken while changing in Genting was circulated a year ago. Just GIVE HER A BREAK, OK!

Who doesn't know the cute Cecilia Cheung when she starred alongside Stephen Chow in 'Shaolin Soccer'. Let me tell you, she has the most pictures of all.... A reliable source said that she has had bad times with hubby Nicholas Tse, who wanted divorce, but his dad adviced him not to do so. What makes a couple strong, is to stay together during difficult times. If you ask me, I think they wouldn't last 2 months.

Taiwanese celebrities are not spared. But does this pic looks like Jolin? I dunno! You are not sure too huh? But I'm sure Edison is pretty sure who this 'lil lady is.

Next on the list is Bobo Chan. She is reported going to get married soon, to a rich guy called Philip Jin. But the marriage was called off. Sigh....

Sometimes, I think this world is not fair. Guys like Nicholas can get married (to Faye Wong), divorce, then remarry and I don't think it really bothers Cecilia, but when this scandal pops up, Nicholas tends to get blown out of his mind and look for the easiest way out.

You'll Never Walk Alone

If you have read my previous post, you will agree with me that this is indeed a sad month...at least for Liverpool fans. LFC suffered another defeat, but this time, it's not only the bitter encounter at Upton Park, but it's yet another bad season for them in the EPL. Even Captain Marvel Stevie G and 26 million pounds Fernando Torres couldn't save the Kops. Rafa Benitez's rotation system is screwed, as we all know, even from the start of the season. Everyone would condemn Rafa now, as the result shows for itself.

To be honest, I think they are just not good enough. Nevertheless, deep down inside, I'm still a Kop, through and through. Hopefully, one day, they can bring back the glory of the 80's.

Man Utd fans, don't ask me to stop dreaming...'cos dreaming is good...especially day dream. It makes my time pass faster, and without realising...it's already 4.00pm. YOoohooo..... 2 more hours to go....

Such a sad month, with a few good people gone back to where they came from...heaven, I supposed.

Firstly, Mr Cheng, Elpha's dad. We have yet to hear from Elpha, but we sincerely hope she's coping well from this sudden tragedy.

A few days ago, I came to know about Sir Edmund Hillary's death. He had a heart attack. He was 88. I believe most of us know who he was. He was the first known person to have climbed Mount Everest, together with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, in 1953.

Yesterday, I heard of another shocking news. Heath Ledger was found dead, head-down on his bed, in his apartment. Many suspected the cause of death was overdose of sleeping pills. We'll hear more of this, in days to come. Nevertheless, he was a fine actor, who acted in a few good movies including Brokeback Mountain and as the Joker in the new Batman.

For all who have departed, may you rest in peace. You will always have a place in our hearts. Amen.

Elpha, Our Sincere Condolences

Our sincere condolences to Elpha and family for the demise of her beloved father.

This is another shocking news this year. It happened so suddenly. Well, I really know how she feel...and I do also know what she has to go through for the next few days. It is indeed a very very sad and painful moment in one's life.

If you say, everyone who come has to go. Yes, I agree. But there are a lot of things which are beyond our thoughts, imagination and control. Everything just happened so fast. It reminded me of my late mother. I'm having goosebumps now.

Anyway, I hope Elpha will be strong enough to go through the next few weeks of her life.

An Nyeong Ha Se Yo

An nyeong ha se yo.... Bangap seumnida....
I have to force myself to post this....or else I will not have any time to do so later. My schedule is so packed, especially when Chinese New Year is just around the corner.

This was indeed our belated honeymoon. Such a nice place to be at, despite the freezing weather.

We took the midnight flight, arrived in Inchon at 8.00 o'clock in the morning. Inside the airport, we did not feel the cold breeze, but as soon as we stepped out of the airport door, oh my.... we felt like a dead chicken being put into the freezer. It was -3 degrees.

Our first activity was to make kimchi. Kimchi is a favourite among Koreans. It is made of cabbage, and stuffed with some ingredients and seasonings. There are many types of vege used in making kimchi, apart from cabbage, eg. cucumber, mustard leave, radish, lettuce, green onion, etc. The taste is nice and refreshing but imagine having the same side dish for 7 days in a row....horrible!

We also visited the Agriculture Museum, Blue House (Korea's White House), Folklore Museum, Kyongbuk Palace (historical palace) and Dongdaemun on our first day. Dongdaemun in Chinese means The Great Eastern Door. This is a place where lots of shopping takes place, similar to Bukit Bintang. My wife and I like this place very much. She, because shopping is women's nature, whereas me, because of the beautiful people around.

This is what we had for our first day dinner, 2nd day lunch, 3rd day lunch and dinner, 4th day.....5th day.....and so on..... I think it's because of the cold weather, that we had steamboat everyday, almost every meal. Luckily, we did have some barbeque pork (bulgogi) and barbeque wild boar for 2 meals.

To be frank, the very reason we wanted to go to Korea in Dec/Jan is to see the snow. Thank God, it snowed on the 2nd day. All of us were so happy to see the snow.

Everland, is our only place to visit for the day. It's an outdoor theme park, currently ranked no. 1 in Korea. Somehow, we feel Genting outdoor theme park has more games to offer. The only speciality here is the Safari. There is a natural breed of combination between a lion and a tiger. The first in the world.

After Everland, we headed straight to the foot of Soraksan. We stayed at Pine Resort. Guessed what, it was New Year Eve. We were too tired, none of us were willing to sit till 12.00am, so at 10.30, we decided to call it a day. This was how we celebrated our New Year 2008! How pathetic!

The next day, we went to Soraksan. Here lies the tallest sitting Buddha in Asia. We took a stroll in the park and Fortress of Soraksan. Then we headed to Yongpyong Hill Resort. This place is where the shooting of the movie 'Winter Sonata' took place. Winter Sonata is a love story, became a big hit 2 years ago, among the girls all over Asia, except for Korea. We enjoyed our evening taking photos around this place.

Later in the evening, we had our ski lessons, and skied for an hour or so. It's fun, but our buttocks were the victim of excessive abuse.

We were later told that this was the coldest place in Korea, it was -13 degrees. Phew... seems like we have gotten used to the weather.

The next day, we went to Myongdong, another shopping street. Part of Winter Sonata shooting took place here as well. Our next destination was one of the highlight of our tour. We visited Nami Island. This island is privately owned. It was told that General Nami was a brave general who fought and won many battles. Due to jealousy, he was framed and soon sentenced to death. The King liked him very much, so instead of beheading him, the King sent him to this island and was never allowed to leave this place.

This island is like a national park, with lots of tall trees. If you like the movie Winter Sonata, you'll notice that the cover of this movie is shot at this place, in between the tall tree trunks.

Later that evening, we went to the MBC Studio. Some of you have watched the movie 'Da Chang Jing', so you'll know what this place is.

At night, we were brought to Lotte World and Walker Casino. Lotte World is an indoor and outdoor theme park, ranked no. 2 in Korea. Due to the location (in Seoul) and the indoor park, I think there are more people here compared to Everland. Quite a nice place, but too bad, we were only allowed one and a half hours here. Definitely not enough, but we are on a tour, so we've got no choice! Walker Casino is nothing compared to Genting Casino, but it's in our list, so what the heck, we've got no complains.

On Day 5, we headed to E-Hwa University Streed, another shopping haven for the girls. Many clothes, shoes and bags were on sale here. There are a few universities around here, which makes this place suitable for shopping.

In the evening, we headed to Jeju Island, another highlight of our tour. Jeju island is located at the south of Korea. It's a small island, smaller than Penang, but the economy here is huge. We were told that Japan agreed to lend money to Korea for construction of stadiums to co-host the 2002 World Cup. However, at the last minute, Japan refuse to fulfill their promise. Korea was left with no choice but to agree new terms with Japan, including supplying seafood to Japan for 50 years. That's why for 7 days here in Korea, the best seafood we had was squid in fried rice!

Day 6 : Our first destination was Yongduam Rock, a rock formation which looks like a dragon head. Is it really so? Hmm....u judge yourself.

Next, we went to Jusanjeoli Cliff. It's a hill, of which we could see the whole of Jeju from the top. The scenery was spectacular! It's quite high tho', we took about 30 mins to climb. In freezing weather, this was the first time we took off our winter jacket.

Then, we went to Seopjikoji. This is a nice place by the sea. It's another Korean movie shooting venue. The movie is 'All In'. Frankly speaking, I have never watched any of these movies. It's too long and draggy....just can't stand the crying and predictable storyline...

Next, we visited Seongeup Folk Village. This village is called the 'Long Aged Village'. There are more than 20 people above 100 years old, and over 40 above 80 years old. We had our BBQ wild boar here, the taste was good....

We also went to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, the only waterfall in Jeju Island. Again, another dissapointment. The water behind us was the only sight to be seen.....nothing more.

Another highlight of our tour, the mysterious road. It is believed that this road is special, in the sense that no matter which direction your vehicle is heading, it will soon go backwards. Meaning that, if you put a water bottle on the ground, push it towards the front, it will soon stop and roll back towards you. Then, if you turn around and do the same trick, the same thing happens. Unbelievable? You better believe it!

The next day, which was our final day in Korea, we left Jeju and headed back to Seoul. After having steamboat for most of our meals, we complained and requested for something different. Some requested for Jajangmeon, so we had Jajangmeon for lunch. It's similar to our Hokkien Mee, just that the sauce has got more ingredients in it, eg. onions, minced pork, etc.

We managed to catch a glimpsed of the Seoul World Cup Stadium before we leave. The capacity is 65000 spectators, but it looks small from the inside.

We were lucky to see a wedding couple on our last day. This is their wedding costume. Pretty normal huh? By the way, their traditional costume is called the 'Ham-buk'.

Anyway, we did enjoy ourselves. I guess, I'll visit Korea again, maybe in another 10 years. We might just go on ourselves, shopping and skiing as long as we like. Overall, a very nice place to visit, especially end of the year.

New Year with a BANG!

Surprise...surprise....

I just came back from Korea last night. It was tiring, but an enjoyable trip. Still finding time to unpack my luggage and load all my photos and videos. Will post about it later.

7 days in Korea, I had not have any news about our Boleh-land. Heard about the resignation of our Minister of Health, Dato' Seri Chua Soi Lek due to a sex scandal from my friend Jason, who drove us back from KLIA. Thanks buddy. Anyway, this is shocking news! The election is so near, and suddenly this thing happened. As a public figure, this should not happen. He should be the role model for us, young Malaysians. But it takes a lot of guts for him to admit his wrongdoings and resign from all government and party posts. Despite all these hoo has, he still has support from his loyal supporters and promised to help BN and MCA to win the election in the state of Johor.

A similar case happened in Taiwan a few years back. Chu Mei-fen, also involved in a sex scandal, had sex with another married man. According to her, she was betrayed by a best friend. Nevertheless, she is now happily married and residing in the States.

What a year!

Again, it's time for us to ponder and think of all that we have done and all that has happened in the whole 2007. It's been a crazy year.

Personally, I got married. Then my mom left us. It was a shocking sad experience for all of us. But we managed to pull through, thanks to our relatives and friends who guided us through this rough period.

Within our country, ups and downs. Wong Mew Choo made us proud by winning her 1st title, the China Open. We also finished 2nd in the Korat Asean Games. On the downside, Nurin was sexually assaulted and killed in a beasty way. Another girl from Penang, forgotten her name...was killed my her mom's boyfriend, then burned! Shame on u, motherfucka. There has been a few street demonstations, which led to a few arrests. Mat Rempits are more daring these days, racing on the roads despite road blocks being held more often by our fellow policemen. Snatch thief also more daring, more and more cases of citizens injured in snatch cases.

Globally, I'd say, there are just too many happenings. The latest being suicide bombing at Pakistan which killed former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. She managed to avoid death in the 1st attempt by her enemies few weeks earlier, but not everyday is Sunday la.... Suicide bombing is the latest and current trend used by extremists and terrorists in killing their enemies. It proved efficient, but I wonder how these people managed to psycho their followers to just give up everything, especially their OWN LIFE? Phew....what a crazy world...

Anyway, it's the end of the year. I believe many people are taking a long holiday. So am I!!! In just 4 hours, I'll be flying to Korea. It's my 2nd time there, this time for my belated honeymoon. Well, my wife and I are really looking forward to this trip. Hopefully, we don't freeze too much over there and start to regret going during winter.
